“Sommerfirsche” that's what city dwellers used to call vacations in the country. In the fin de siècle, artists such as Gustav Klimt or even the emperor himself traveled to the Lake District (Salzkammergut) to relax and find new inspiration.
On the occasion of the Traunsee half marathon we spend some splendid days in Gmunden. While my husband and my two sons prepared for their run, I used the time to explore the old town of Gmunden and enjoyed a boat trip on the lake. Of course I was back intime to fire on my boys for their challenge!
I am so proud of them – they did a great job!

“Mindfulness”…”Decleration” – it is not just a word – you can have this for less money on our wonderful mountains.
Take your backpacker and go on a hiking tour – as me – from hut to hut. Just you, the nature and nice conversations on the Alm.
Together with my boys we started our trip at the 3rd stage of the "Schladminger Höhenweg" and spend a night at the Golling hut. The other days we stayed at Preintaller hut and Hans-Wödl hut. It was really a nice experience to explore this breathtaking nature in this way.

One advice from me to spend a nice summer evening in Vienna. Come to Theater in the Park, an open air theatre in middle of the private garden of family Schwarzenberg and enjoy a cheerful evening with great comedians there!
If you have enought time, then I recommend also a visit to Belvedere museum which is directly at the park. ☺☀🥂

I used the long Pentecost weekend to visit a favourite vacation spot of my childhood. Austrias longest narrow gauge railway - the Mariazeller railway - brought me to the biggest nature park of Lower Austria Ötscher:Tormäuer. Here I enjoyed the just awaking nature from the winter - colourful flowers, fresh green leaves and roaring waterfalls. When you are in this region, you have to get out from the train also at the famous pilgrimage destination Mariazell and light a candle at grotto of the basilica. And of course a jump into the crystal water of lake "Erlaufsee" must not be missing! Oh, it was a wonderful but also melancholic trip back to long gone days....☺🏊

Few weeks ago, I spent a wonderful city walk together with our guide Alexandra Barth through the old town of Vienna. While exploring narrow roads and hidden places, we still could feel the atmosphere of times long past. Indeed, Vienna could tell us for sure many stories about the people lived here the last centuries. And every culture and religion shaped the city. So if you are interested in famous musicians worked here, the Habsburgs or maybe also the Romans, our guides will respond to our special wishes. And after the tour, numerous coffee houses, wine bars or delicatessen are waiting for you. ☺🥂

Life is just beautiful! ☺️ Beginning of February I spent some splendid days skiing in Bad Kleinkirchheim. This skiing resort is ideally for families - great wide skiing slopes thanks the gentle Nock mountains. It is just perfect for every ability and after the ski day the thermal bath St. Kathrein or Roemertherme invites you for a jump into the pleasently warm thermal water. Of course the excellent Carinthian cuisine must not be missing. I found it fortunately at the Weltcup Poldl Hütte or the Groar Alm powered by Kirchheimerhof . 😅⛷🥂

It's hard to believe, we've just celebrated Christmas and now we're skiing in the most beautiful spring weather. We spent a few perfect skiing days in the Schladming ski area during the Christmas holidays. Although we had skiing-like temperatures at the end of March, we enjoyed perfect skiing conditions. The slopes were in good condition, the sun was shining and of course we couldn't miss a stop at one or the other hut. I have declared and the to be my favorite stations and simply enjoyed life there! ☺️⛷🥂

Actually the romantic "Marchfeld" castle Schlosshof invites to an idyllic advent market. Ideally located at the gates of Vienna, Schlosshof organises a lot of interesting events during the year. Of course the wonderful castle and its garden can be explored during a guided tour too. During my visit at this areal, I have also inspected the "Marmeladenküche". I must confess, that I felt in love with this location. It is the ideal venue if you are planing a seminar or a workshop. This private conference room can be combined with a cooking class for example. It doesn´t matter what you are searching for your guests, I am sure you will find it in Marchfeld! 😅🚴🥂I am looking forward to assist you! ☺️

I must confess, I have a little fervor to Italy. If you stroll around trough the narrow roads of Vienna for example, you can experience wonderful buildings and palazzi inspired by the Italian architecture. You can taste Italian specialities in one of the great Italian restaurants in Vienna or at the one or other market. If you - like me - love the Imperial history of Austria but don´t want to miss a bit "Dolce Vita", you will for sure find it in Vienna! ☺🥂☀

So, now we have used the last few days of summer holidays to explore our region, the "Weinviertel" close to Vienna. It's amazing how much history can be found not far from here. First we went to the Roman city of Carnuntum. In the footsteps of the Romans, we explored the city district, the amphitheater and the "Heidentor". When walking through the district with the Villa Urbana and the bathing establishment, you get a good impression of how the Romans must have lived back then. Yes, and then the journey continued into the Middle Ages. What is impressive here, is that this castle was actually rebuilt in the 19th century and is now used as a show castle. Another little suggestion from my side - these venues can also be ideally explored by bike! ☀😊🚴

Exactly mine! This year our summer vacation went to our southern province of Carinthia. Our "base" was the wonderful Naturel Hoteldorf Schönleitn . We spent a great week in this hiking hotel, consisting of lovingly renovated farmhouses, wellness and excellent regional cuisine. Thanks to the ideal location on Lake Faakersee, we were able to explore the area optimally. Our program was varied, starting with the "Villacher Kirchtag", through breathtaking hiking tours to impressive castles and monasteries. Well, and then...if you're that close to "Bella Italia", a little dolce far niente in Grado shouldn't be missing. "Aperol Sprizz, per favore!" 😜🥂

What you can find here all in the Weinviertel... behind the vineyards, with the hospitable people, there are award-winning restaurants and premium wineries. What happens when these two meet? The result is a fantastic evening at a high level. That's exactly what happened last week at the Weingut Taubenschuss. Here, excellent hand-picked wines from the winery met a 7-course tasting menu from the Genusswirtschaft.
This can be one of your adventures on your "what to do list" when coming to this region. But maybe you want to be active yourself and attend a cooking workshop before you enjoy your meal? 😜🥂

Here at the enjoyable Weinviertel, not far from Vienna, you can do much more than cycling and drinking wine. As part of the cultural summer of Lower Austria, there are numerous events just waiting to be visited. Last week I was able to enjoy a wonderful evening at the Schödl Family in Loidesthal. Viktor Gernot - a cabaret artist - was a guest at the Schödl winery with his "Schiefliegen" program. There was also a wine tasting of excellent wines and culinary delicacies from the Weinviertel. As you can see, you can definitely spend a few comfortable days here in the Weinviertel! Just ask us for an offer! 😊🚴🥂

Now it's been over a month since I was at the Rammstein concert in Prague! Anyone who thinks that a rock concert cannot be combined with culture and enjoyment is wrong!
The "city of a hundred towers" has a lot to offer, be it a guided tour of Prague Castle or a shopping tour in the old town. No matter which program you have planned, the numerous restaurants and bars invite you to relax afterwards. A stay in Prague also ideally can be combined with some extra days in Vienna or maybe Poysdorf - a little wine town between this two adorable cities! 🤩🥰🥂

Last weekend I spent some days biking at Neusiedlersee area (Burgenland) which is not far from Vienna. This area offers well-developed cycle paths combined with beautiful nature and culture. Of course the Neusiedlersee offers a wide range of activies - water sports, boat cruise or the festivals at Moerbisch. For me it is also necessary to enjoy good food and drinks and of course I discovered nice places along the bike paths offering refreshing and regional drinks and lounges to relax. Maybe you want to include a day trip to this Pannonian region when you come the next time to Vienna? ☀🥂🚴

Wir lieben gutes Essen, wunderschöne Landschaften und greifbare Geschichte. Das möchten wir auch unseren Gästen auf deren Reisen vermitteln. Neu in unserem Portofolio sind Genussreisen nach Friaul, Toskana oder Südtirol. Vor kurzem war ich in Triest - diese Stadt hat mich gefesselt. This year the Marchfeld is all about the Lower Austrian state exhibition in Marchegg "Marchfeld Secrets". A visit to the state exhibition can be ideally combined with a visit to one of the numerous farms or a guided tour of one of the Marchfeld castles. Did you know that you are on historical ground here? In Eckartsau Castle, for example, you can experience the end of the Danube monarchy up close. But also for our guests from abroad, a trip to the Weinviertel is definitely worth an experience. The area is also ideal for exploring by bike! So open up - maybe you too will reveal one or the other secret? ☺️🚴

Heuer steht das Marchfeld ganz im Zeichen der NÖ Landesaustellung in Marchegg "Marchfeld Geheimnisse". Der Besuch der Landesausstellung lässt sich ideal mit einem Besuch bei einem der zahlreichen landwirtschaftlichen Betriebe oder einer Führung in einem der Marchfeldschlösser kombinieren. Haben Sie gewusst, dass Sie sich hier auf historischen Boden befinden? Im Schloss Eckartsau zum Beispiel erleben Sie hautnah das Ende der Donaumonarchie. Aber auch für unsere Gäste aus dem Ausland, ist ein Ausflug ins Weinviertel durchaus ein Erlebnis wert. Auch mit dem Bike lässt sich die Gegend ideal erkunden! Also auf - vielleicht lüften auch Sie das ein oder andere Geheimnis?☺️🚴‍

When I remember my childhood, I have spent some wonderful afternoons in the castle garden of Laxenburg. It is not far from Vienna, where you can find a wonderful castle called "Franzensburg" in middle of a great park. Ideally to relax, explore the areal by bike or running or enjoy simple the landscape during a boat ride. This January I came back to Laxenburg, visiting the "Ilumina" which takes place in December and first days of January. I immersed there in a magical lightining garden. I tought myself, why don´t include it with a visit at one of our traditional advent markets during Christmas time? I know they days are already getting longer and spring is in the air - but why don´t think already of a weekend in Vienna during advent season? 😜🎄☃️

The last weeks I made an expedition to Austrias skiing destinations at Ski Amade. I spent some days at the area Schladming, Haus/Ennstal and Rohrmoos and finalized my tour at Großarl. I enjoyed a great time mixed with modern mountain lounges and traditional historic alpine huts, perfect skiing slopes and good food. I must say that here you really find all what you need - is it a school class searching for excellent skiing instructors, a family with kids who want to have just fun in the snow or for those who want to enjoy a romantic time in one of our great wellness hotels combined with fine dining and good wines. ☺🥂⛷

Do you want to improve your English? Dann komm´ doch ins Vienna's English Theatre in der Josefstadt! Bereits seit 1963 werden hier Theaterstücke mit Leidenschaft aufgeführt. Was zuerst als Sommertheater für englischsprachige Touristen gedacht war, entwickelte sich zu großer Beliebtheit auch beim österreichischen Publikum. Ich selbst wurde auf das Englische Theater während meiner Schulzeit aufmerksam, als wir mit der Schule ein Stück besuchten. Apropos Schulen – es gibt hier auch spezielle Theater Workshops für Schulen. Wäre einmal ein etwas anderer Schulausflug?! Also egal ob mit der Schule oder mit Freunden, ein Ausflug in die Josefstadt wird garantiert zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis. See you in Vienna!
