Sad post today from Cefalu in Sicily… I have often taken pictures of these little red plastic life saving boats which sit on the beaches in Italy.. but yesterday this was a real life crisis no Bondi Rescue here with modern equipment and techniques just this one bloke and his rescue boat. He managed to get out to the small boy and the man and pull them on board to the cheers of the people on the boat however, he then proceeded to do non stop CPI on the man .. being on his own with no one to help the little rescue boat went sideways into the waves and capsized .. all hell broke loose and thirty or so strong blokes ran into the water to try and save them. Very sadly the man didn’t make it …A big thanks to all the lifeguards around the world who are heroes and do a wonderful job .. we are especially lucky in Australia with our lifesaving culture and for the equipment techniques and training and willingness available.

This incredible Organ fountain at the Villa D’Este on Tivoli was famous for the hydraulic-pneumatic technology that made this musical fountain possible on the 16th century !
