Watton Airstrip is a stunning property, nestled on the Macquarie River. Featuring nine riverside campsites, along with paddock and bush sites, all 4WD accessible and two equally stunning 2WD accessible sites; you’ll share our spaces with kangaroos, emus, echidnas, deer, platypus and more. Enjoy some optional extras including Tammie’s home made bread; farm fresh, free range eggs; or pamper yourself

with a reiki session or tarot reading. The 2WD accessible sites feature spectacular views to the right, towards Mt Panorama and Mount Horrible and towards Mt Canobolas to the left. Lie back in your swag at night and let the star struck, velvety sky envelope you, or make a booking at the nearby Bathurst Observatory to see the stars up close. Each campsite offers its own unique features for you to enjoy and a hand crafted pit toilet is accessible to those camped along the river bank. Fish or swim in the river, ride your bikes, or set up camp and then head off on an adventure to the Goldfields at Ophir, or History Hill at Hill End via The Bridle Track. Better still, book in a pub crawl with Damo so you can lie back and enjoy the ride. There are plenty of opportunities for 4WDing and bushwalking in the local area. Wood can be collected from fallen wood around the property, or bring your own if you prefer. Pets are welcome for a one off fee per animal. We do ask that pets are supervised at all times and that they do not interfere with farm animals or local wildlife.

Highly recommend!
The Beach site was amazing! Perfect for kids, lots of shade and beautiful grassed space to run around. The river was beautiful! Nice and shallow, The deepest section here was about waist height on me (161cm tall). There was great little sandy islands, clean water and rapids 10m away - different rapids from “the rapid” campsite though. It was so nice listening to the rapids throughout the night. Llamas and horses hanging around which the kids loved! The horses came right up to our campsite for some pats. Overall absolutely beautiful spot, steep rocky driveway down so definitely need a 4wd! We will 100% be back.

Rivers Edge 4WD Only
Enjoyable weekend camping at The Rivers Edge spot. This site is in between The Rapids and Sunnyside spots. Sites are very large and spaced around 50-60m apart. Direct access to the river for swimming was great. The campsite was freshly mown and firepit in place. Met the caretaker and his partner who were lovely and delivered some firewood and fresh eggs and potatoes to us , thank you! Directions to the property and then on to campsite were straight forward and easy to follow. I would recommend this site

Beautiful
We loved camping by the river. Damien and Tammi’s have a magnificent property with a number of different sites to choose from all with stunning views. The road in is definitely 4WD. Damien was a fantastic host there when we needed him. Will definitely recommend to our friends and be going back.

We loved our stay at West End, such a beautiful property and the owners were lovely! Our pup also loved his stay, with a gorgeous river to swim in and plenty of room to run around. We would definitely recommend this camp to anyone, especially those with furry friends!

The campground down by the river was lovely. We enjoyed the peace and quiet as well as the large campsites. The only facility is a pit toilet. Having a couple of horses and alpacas roaming around was a good fun for the grandkids, as they could feed the horses. Kids could also ride their bikes to do their own exploring. Throughly recommend staying here.

Great! - We will back!
We loved our stay at Watton Airstrip. It’s a beautiful location, right on the river. Tammie was wonderful, very helpful and welcoming with great communication. Our dogs loved coming along, they were a bit scared of the friendly horses and alpacas that hang around your site, but they got used to them after a day. There is a good distance between other campers and it won’t be overcrowded and depending on how you set up your area, you can have full privacy. We enjoyed walking around the farm, sitting by the campfire and swimming in the river. We will be back :)

We spent 2 nights at The Beach campsite. It ticked all of our criteria: 4WD access, amazing views, swimming and fishing on the river and animals (horses and llamas!). It was also a short walk to the outhouse and bins. Highly recommend!

The Views!!
This site was absolutely stunning - the hilltop spot had the best view of the valley. My favourite camping spot by far, highly recommend. Note that there is a lot of animal droppings on the ground as sheep hang around the same area, but this didn’t bother us too much as the view was well worth!
