I had the privilege of refreshing the Centacare brand for Bathurst recently. Creating a new and vibrant identity for Centacare Central West & Orana. We retained the recognisable "C" part of their existing logo and created a bespoke fontface and an updated colour palette to compliment their new website. You can check it out here https://centacarebathurst.com.au/

A major mural by Wiradyuri artist Birrunga Wiradyuri has been installed on the Post Office Building on Howick Street as part of the Streets As Shared Spaces Program.
The mural was painted by Birrunga Wiradyuri with Kane Brunjes and Stevie O’Chin, young First Nations artists who Birrunga mentors through the Birrunga Gallery’s three-year Cultural Creative Residential program. This mural was undertaken in consultation and collaboration with the Bathurst Wiradyuri Elders, the Traditional Custodians of the Bathurst region.

Birrunga Wiradyuri’s mural tells the creation story of the blue banded bee as told to him by his Elders:
The bees come from gibirrgan (the southern cross). They fall down to earth from these stars and when they first begin falling from the sky, they are bright white balls of light. As they fall and get closer to earth they become glowing golden balls and when those golden balls land on earth they become our bees.

The important role the blue-banded bee plays in the ecosystem holds special significance for the Wiradyuri. Other elements of the mural design explore the five aspects of the Wiradyuri central lore of Yindyamarra: to do slowly - to be polite - to be gentle - to honour - to respect.
Council received $767,884 grant funding under the NSW Government’s Streets as Shared Spaces (SASS) program to test and pilot new and innovative ideas for streets as safe, shared public spaces.

The program aims to improve public spaces in urban areas to create places for social interaction, improve health and wellbeing, and offer communities a sense of identity and character.

We are very honoured that Meta felt inspired by the logo of our migraine app - maybe they’ll get inspired by our data privacy procedures as well 👀 🤓

This morning Blinky Bill went live to unveil our new logo. We wish we could have had all of our families in attendance, however, current covid conditions restricted this from occurring.

Tanya’s speech:
We would like to acknowledge the Wiradjuri people who are the traditional custodians of the land on which Blinky Bill now stands, we would also like to pay respect to the elders both past and present of the Wiradjuri nation and extend our respect to other Indigenous Australians.

It has been in the pipe line for a while now, our official name change to Blinky Bill Early Learning Portland occurred this time last year.
Blinky Bill has been in the community for 30 years in May 2022. over this period of time early childhood education and care has evolved and the words childcare no longer represent the professionalism of the sector, or our knowledgeable and highly qualified University and TAFE trained teachers and educators. Today we recognise that early childhood is a vital period in children’s learning and development, and children have the right to an education that lays a foundation for future learning.

Blinky Bill is a unique early childhood setting offering three models of education, including: long day care, preschool and occasional care as one. This enables Blinky Bill to meet the varying needs of children, families, and the community. Being such a unique early childhood service Blinky Bill needed a name and logo that represents the models as one entity. Blinky Bill provides a quality curriculum across the whole service as we are not just a preschool, long day care, or occasional care service. The name Blinky Bill Early Learning Portland reflects our philosophy and the identity of our professional and high quality service.

In moving forward, it was important to establish a unique professional logo that communicates the quality and professional service that Blinky Bill Early Learning Provides. The simple, relevant, memorable, timeless and versatile logo recognises our diverse services, our values and beliefs.
Together staff, children, and families collaborated to produce a variety of options. We consulted Aunty Nyree and value her input, it ensures the Wiradjuri culture was represented within our new logo.
The Blinky Bill Early Learning logo that captured our hearts and the uniqueness of our early childhood service is what I reveal to you today!
