Another cracker from last weekend. This was our final pitstop. In true spirit of the annual Flatlander, we pre-parked a car or two here so we didn’t have to ride the hill home to Beechworth. 200k’s, 2 days

Rolling out early from Gentle Annie campsite this morning, the last stretch. This includes a bit of up and down through the pines on the SW side of Myrtleford, then to tackle the long, sawtoothing climb of flagstaff road… it’s a scenic ridge climb including around 500m vert over 8k’s! A big ask at the 480km mark! After this it’s mainly gentle downs to the finish line on territory is familiar with.

Bring it home Tegs!!

summary of yesterday afternoon/evening… ‘Tough on the old legs!!! Had a decent sleep last night with no mozzies, a few other guys camped there too. Got up at 0500 and tackled Howqua Hills in the dark (sketchy) but Richie’s was in the light (phew).’

Tegs is now only 5k’s from Buller Village where I suspect she’ll be hoping to fuel up to try and make it to the next town for dinner. 🤞

Check it out!… day 1 done and dusted… 160km!!

The overnight summary from
‘Stopped for a rest last night, got mauled by mozzies at Big River. Back on the bike just after 7ish and now heading towards Jamieson for resupply. Very humid out here again.’

Link to Tegs’ current location in our bio ✌️

Uh oh… first…

‘So, I’m using what I thought was the 2022 version of a GPS route but it turns out it's the 2021 one, the most recent one was updated to cut out the bit that we did and I can see why I've just spent two hours carrying my bike over logs… really, really, heinous.’

But things improved… it’s dinner time!

‘Just heading to Marysville pub for steak and chips. Have sweated more today than ever before - incredibly hot & humid.’

on track to pass through the tall ash forest of Marysville tonight.

This sunrise on Mt McKay - Australia’s highest driveable point - was worth every bit of the 4.45am start. The clouds were rolling gently over the mountains and the landscape was pink, orange, blue, green, golden. Feathertop, Buffalo, Spion Kopje, The Fainters, Jaithmathang, Bogong … simply spectacular.
