It was announced on Tuesday that Australians will be eligible for easier passage through American airports with participation in the US Global Entry program. Beginning early next year, it will allow pre-approved, low-risk travellers from Australia to use automated kiosks, speeding up processing time upon arrive in the US.

It’s fantastic news for corporate travellers that Australians will soon have access to the USA’s Global Entry and TSA PreCheck programs, which speed up customs and security clearances at American airports.

Late last night Regional Express (Rex) announced it was entering voluntary administration, and was subsequently cancelling Boeing 737 flights between major airports. Flights between regional routes on its Saab 340 fleet will continue to operate as normal.

Following the news, Virgin Australia has made an offer to accommodate travellers, free of charge, who have had a ticket cancelled due to the Administration process.
