We have a kayak tour out on Dove Lake 9am this Sunday with three spots available. Conditions look epic, with sunshine, no wind and, if we're lucky, a bit of snow on the mountain.

I've been hanging out for a trip with a glassy lake and snow on the mountain, and hopefully this will be the one. Check out our website or give us a call or message to book.

Couple of photos here of trips we've had out today and yesterday.

Definitely cold in there. Lovely if you're keen though.

🔅 We could not have had a more magical final trip through Dove Canyon on Sunday! The way the sunlight caught the mist in the canyon was out of this world. Our guides decided to celebrate the occasion by dressing up 🤪

✅️ We've officially wrapped up our canyon season for this summer (minus a few odd private bookings here and there in May). That marks 14 seasons now for Cradle Mountain Canyons!

📅 Our 24/25 trips are already available for canyoning from November onwards, and we'll be running kayak tours through the winter where possible. So you can still come along and say g'day!

Epic conditions for kayaking at Cradle Mountain this Wednesday and Thursday!

Our season officially ends today, but we are going to put trips on over the off season when conditions are good.

We actually get the best conditions for kayaking on Dove Lake in the off season. It can be like paddling through a mirror, with the mountain reflected perfectly.

We have put up some trips for Wednesday and Thursday, because it looks like being amazing. The fagus is out too, so it is going to be unreal out there.

These photos by are from a trip a couple of weeks ago when we got out for a paddle with the amazing

Message us if you would like to come for a paddle in our hand built King Billy pine kayaks on Dove Lake this week.

Such moody light in Dove Canyon yesterday made for some lovely pics.

We also found a very cute ring tail possum who had fallen into the canyon and gotten stranded. We put him in the lunch bag and carried him out and he ran free into the rain forest. Will post a video of that in the next couple of days.

We're heading into the magnificent Machinery Canyon this Saturday. We don't do this one very often, so this is a great opportunity. It is a massive gorge that runs through a fault line in the rock.

In this hidden world you'll find six waterfalls that hardly anyone gets to see - including the spectacular Petrifying Falls, named by Henry Hellyer in 1823. This waterfall was famous for a short period in Tasmania's history as Hellyer was convinced it had magical properties. It was gradually forgotten about though and is now very rarely visited.

Please do join us this Saturday. We will meet at Cradle Mountain at 830am and we'll be done by 4pm ish. 345 bucks per person. All gear, lunch, two guides and bus ride to and from the canyon included.

Check out our website, or give us a message or call to book.

Great story from ABC about poo pods/tubes. If you are adventuring in the Tassie wilderness, you need to familiarise yourself with this wonderful piece of technology.

The old advice for pooing in the bush was to dig a 15cm hole. That advice doesn't work for Tassie anymore. The number of people pooing in the bush has increased greatly, for one thing. And when you've got to go, you've got to go, and the number of people who actually get to 15 cm in the heat of the moment is very small.

There's now a lot of poo lying around in some very special places on our lovely little island and the poor old park rangers spend a lot of time picking it up.

If you come on a three day packrafting trip with us, you'll be introduced to the world of the poo tube. Once you get into the swing of it, you'll never look back.

Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service

Wilderness rangers encourage bushwalkers to use poo pots after noticing an "unprecedented" amount of human faeces in remote places.

Party clothes day in Phoenix Gorge for guide yesterday. Just because it's warm, so why not.

We don't get into this one very often. If you've done one of our other full day canyons and can get a crew of between four and eight together, get in touch and we'll put a trip on.

Lots of action on this one including a zip line and Big Cheese - a 30m waterfall that we abseil half of, before dropping off the end of the rope and sliding the rest.

She floats! Finally got our latest King Billy pine kayak finished yesterday and out on the lake last night... just in time, as it's out on tour this morning.

You would think it would be easy by the third boat, but we had some major dramas with this one. As the epoxy cured, the hull expanded and the deck contracted, so they weren't even close to fitting when we went to stick the two halves together.

After a few tears, I spent Christmas Day, with the assistance of and .roo.tattoo forcing the two halves together with four rolls of gaffer tape, allowing me to fibreglass the inside to hold it all together!

It's done now and is a dream to paddle out on Dove Lake!

The project's not done yet. We'll build one more double kayak, maybe a single, and a fleet of paddles. Definitely having a little time away from boat building now before getting stuck into that though.

Come join us for a paddle on Dove Lake in these kayaks we've made with our own little hands sometime soon. Tours out most days.
