This time of year always comes around too fast! We're embarking on our last multi-day camping tour for the 2024 season next week ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Coming into our southern hemisphere summer, it gradually becomes too warm to comfortably camp out on our beautiful Ningaloo beaches.

The good news is that we run our half-day and full day trips all year round.

Our multi-day camping tours will resume again in April 2025, and we already can't wait!

X marks the spot! These two cowtail stingrays were resting in perfect symmetry at Turquoise Bay earlier this week.

Named after their unusual tail, cowtail stingrays can grow up to 3 metres long and 1.8 metres across, and are one of the most common species of rays that we encounter on our kayak and snorkel tours in the Ningaloo lagoon.

Can you spot the remora (suckerfish) attached to one of the rays tails?

It's as if the fringing coral reef of Ningaloo was custom-made for exploring by sea kayak.

Shallow turquoise lagoons brimming with marine life and incredible snorkel sites, some only accessible by kayak, make it a nature and ocean-lover's paradise.

Today on our Ningaloo In A Day tour we were lucky enough to see some black-flanked rock wallabies with curious joeys in their pouch, and our first emu chicks of the season as they were crossing the road with their dad north of town ๐Ÿฅฐ

If you're touring around the area, please slow down and watch for wildlife, especially with these little cuties around.

Look who we found on our Coral By Kayak tour earlier this week!

This beautiful Loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) was resting in the Tantabiddi Sanctuary zone, and our group was lucky enough to spend some time in her company.

An endangered species, Loggerheads are the second most common species of turtle that nest along the Ningaloo coast (after Green turtles). Identifiable by their large head and powerful jaw - perfect for crushing shellfish, crabs and urchins, which along with jellyfish form a large part of their diet - and 5 large scales down each side of their shell, these turtles are always an impressive and awe-inspiring sight.

Pics are in from our Ningaloo Odyssey: 4-Day Trek & Kayak Expedition tour last week. What a beauty this trip was with an awesome bunch of humans!

The thing that makes this trip SO special is the opportunity to experience first-hand the unique contrast between our amazing Cape Range and the rugged gorges, arid shrublands, coastal plains, dune systems and surprising diversity it supports; and the Ningaloo Reef's stunning turquoise lagoons, healthy coral gardens and ubiquitous marine life.

All done under your own steam - using hiking boots and pack, sea kayak and snorkel - with expert guidance from the team at Trek Ningaloo and Exmouth Adventure Co.

So much fun, we'd happily turn around and do it all again ๐Ÿซถ

Join us in August 2025 as we embark on a 5-day sea kayaking expedition in Murujuga (Dampier Archipelago), ex-Karratha Western Australia.

Our guides rave about Murujuga, describing it as a sea kayaking paradise โœจ

๐Ÿ›ถ Paddle past ancient petroglyphs, wondering at the skill of generations of artists who walked the land before us.

๐Ÿชจ Marvel at the geology of this ancient landscape, from 2.7 billion year old fractured red rock piles to towering sea cliffs.

๐Ÿ‹ Be inspired and delighted by the variety of wildlife, from soaring birds of prey and Rothschild's rock wallabies, to turtles and migrating humpback whales. You may even spy elusive dingo or northern quoll tracks on the beach.

This trip is suitable for sea kayakers with prior multi-day experience. A cultural awareness presentation and rock art tour delivered by indigenous rangers are included in the tour.

One departure is scheduled for August 24-29, 2025. Custom dates are available for groups of 6 or more.

Is this the BEST way to experience Ningaloo Reef?

We may be biased, but we reckon it is. These pics are just in from our 3-day Reef & Beach tour earlier this week.

Imagine 3 days of exploring Ningaloo Reef by sea kayak and snorkel, making camp each night amongst the sand dunes.

By day: spot turtles, rays, schools of fish, and sometimes dolphins and dugong from your kayak as you glide over the unbelievably turquoise waters. In the evening: take in an incredible Indian Ocean sunset and marvel at the brilliant night sky as day turns to night.

Small groups with all the details - kayak, snorkel and camping equipment, fresh and nutritious food, logistics and safety - taken care of by your awesome guides.

The colours of Ningaloo ๐Ÿ’™

From the rusty ramparts of Cape Range, to the brilliant turquoise lagoons, rainbow-coloured fish life and vibrant corals of the Ningaloo lagoons, there is colour and contrast at every turn.

Our multi-day tours offer the chance to absorb the kaleidoscope of colour and marvel as the landscape comes to life, glows, then softens with the changing light throughout the day.

Thereโ€™s a good reason that wildlife and nature lovers from around the world are drawn to the Ningaloo coast.

Relatively intact ecosystems on land and in the sea mean healthy populations of wildlife that fulfil the roles of predator and prey.

On a recent half day Turtle Tour, our tour group were lucky enough to encounter this beautiful hammerhead shark whilst kayaking in the shallows.

The anatomy of these sharks means they are perfectly adapted for hunting bottom-dwelling species such as stingrays, crustaceans and octopus. Their distinctive 'hammer-head' - called a cephalofoil - provides a greater surface area for more electroreceptors to aid in detection of prey.

Such an incredible experience for our guests and guides to share a moment in time with this beauty!

Winter and spring time means wildflowers along the Ningaloo Coast ๐ŸŒธ

After our driest year on record in 2023 (around 55mm of rain for the entire year!), recent rains have brought the arid rangelands back to life.

With over 630 different species of flowering plants in Cape Range National Park alone, there is so much variety including quite a few species that are endemic to the area or rarely recorded and disjunct from their known range.

From ephemeral herbaceous species to prolific Acacia and Ipomoea, showy Eremophilas (Emu bushes), desert peas and the awe-inspiring Green Birdflower, take a closer look and marvel at the resilience and beauty of our native flora.

Join our Ningaloo In A Day tour, or multi-day tours like our Ningaloo Odyssey: 4-Day Trek and Snorkel or 5-Day Ultimate Safari to dive deeper into the wonderful natural world of Ningaloo.

Ningaloo is full of surprises! Guests and guides on our Ultimate Safari tour last week had an incredible and humbling encounter with two wedge-tailed eagles - our continent's largest bird of prey.

After watching them both spiral from a height into the lagoon waters - perhaps a territorial battle? - we watched as one eagle was able to safely make it to shore. After trying to fly or swim for over half an hour, the other became progressively weaker, and eventually stopped trying at all. One of our guides had to pluck the eagle out of the water from her kayak and hold on as she was towed to shore, before we were able to contact rangers to collect this beautiful bird.

Exmouth's amazing wildlife carers took over from there, and this very lucky we**ie eventually made a full recovery and was released back into the wild.

When rock wallabies attack!

We came across these two male black-flanked rock wallabies fighting over a female last week during our 5-day Ultimate Safari tour.

Whilst the rock wallabies are usually shy and relaxed, these two were at each other for at least 10 minutes - putting on quite a show as we watched their acrobatic antics and fur flying.

Another incredible wildlife moment courtesy of the amazing and inspiring Ningaloo Coast.

We've just returned from another incredible week exploring Murujuga by sea kayak. Our guests from NSW Sea Kayak Club paddled around 80km over 5 days as we marvelled at the cultural and natural wonders of this soon-to-be World Heritage-listed area.

Following our cultural awareness session with the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation Rangers (thanks Sarah and Caleb ๐Ÿ™Œ), we paddled along sea cliffs marvelling at white-bellied sea eagles and osprey nesting on rock pinnacles, explored mangrove-lined creeks brimming with life, wondered at petroglyphs of turtles, fish, kangaroos and spirit-figures, camped on beautiful beaches (and had a memorable night at what is now known as 'Squally Bay!), and saw too many turtles, rays and baby sharks to count.

All in all an amazing trip on Murujuga land and sea country, definitely an adventure, with an incredible group of paddlers who brought the laughter and banter.

If you're an experienced sea kayaker looking for your next adventure, this trip is for you.

This last week we hosted an incredible bunch of students from Newman College Perth on a 4 day sea kayaking expedition along the Ningaloo Coast.

With a focus on leadership, the students experienced amazing - and at times challenging - conditions for sea kayaking, snorkelled with an array of iconic Ningaloo wildlife, and practiced minimal impact camping whilst taking in the beauty of Ningaloo. Taking turns to run the trip in leadership groups, the students learnt about and cared for our amazing coastal and marine ecosystems, gained confidence and skills in managing the group, and an appreciation for this fragile World Heritage-listed coastline.
