Book nook shaping up. I have to be able to transport it 5km up the road. It will have a queen size mattress at knee height. It will have a balcony above it but can’t build that yet as there’s not enough room under my workshop roof.

We also have our other accommodation apartment called the Happy Nest.
We have a lot of guests. We have a lot of ‘wonderful’ guests frequently too and we love how the world comes to us up here in remote Jackeys Marsh, up in the sticks. We do our thing and are rewarded with friendship from total strangers!
Here’s today’s review just as it arrived.

“A superb stay!!!
+ Where do I start? The hosts, Kim and Chinny were the most down-to-earth, friendly, honest, wonderful people. They were very hospitable right from the start. Upon learning that Kim used to be a musician, my musician partner's eyes lit up and they both ended up jamming together during dinner at Butterfly Cafe. Chinny cooked the best Thai food, we polished everything off. The location was remote and hilly, it's a steep drive up the hill to the property. I loved how it's off-grid, Kim built the houses himself. The house that we stayed in looked like it popped out of Enid Blyton's books. He's currently building a new house called the Eyeful Tower. I loved the views, the off-grid living, the smart ways to be self-sufficient, the milky way above us, the mineral spring water, I didn't have headaches at all during my stay there. Oh, and the bathroom was clean which is a must for me. Will definitely be back again.
- Nothing, everything was excellent. If there's one thing, and this is just my personal preference really, I prefer a firm mattress for my back, and the mattress there was a tad soft for my liking, but I still slept through the night”

Chintana is preparing pad Thai sauce to the authentic recipe. Her mother prepared the tamarind paste freshly during Chintana’s recent visit to Chiang Rai. There is is no substitute for authentic ingredients. The result is delicious. Eat at the Butterfly Cafe.

Activities at the Roundhouse

You might be interested to take a short self guided walk from the Roundhouse into the rainforest to see where our beautiful spring water comes to the surface in natural pools in a tree fern forest.
Then, in case you might be interested, there’s the Japanese bathhouse.
The bathhouse is based on Japanese onsen bathing. It's woodfired pure spring water from the rainforest and the minerals are wonderful for the skin. It takes 12 hours and about three large wheel barrows of wood to get the 2000 litres to the best temperature but stays hot for ages and can be used for twelve hours. All that takes a fair bit of effort on my part so unfortunately I have to charge a $120 fee. I thoroughly recommend it
