Skylark team getting creative
Team day out in progress π₯³ So good seeing each other again in person after 2 months!!
Are you applying for the WA state nomination program?
Western Australia has closed its state nominations for this financial year (ending 30 June 2022) after reaching its quota.
If you haven't gotten your nomination for your 190/491 visa yet, you will likely need to wait until the new financial year.
In the meantime, there are 3 things you can do. You can:
(1) Wait to see if additional places to open up
(2) Apply anyway to speed up the process, or
(3) We can find other ways for you to get PR.

Victoria has eased a number of restrictions, one of which has got some people going π€π€
According to the Vic government, the "14-day hotel quarantine period for international visitors and aircrew who arenβt fully vaccinated or medically exempt will reduce to 7 days"
WAIT...but aren't unvaccinated travellers NOT allowed to come into Australia? (Remember Novak Djokovic?)
ππ§ Here's what our migration experts have to say:
"If you are NOT vaccinated, you can still come into the country. However, you will need to officially apply and be granted a travel exemption by the Department of Immigration. So there's a chance you could still come to Australia. (This is what Novak did NOT have)
As a general rule, all vaccinated passengers no longer need to quarantine in Australia. BUT certain states could have their own rules."

π₯π¦πΊ Working in Australia on a 482 TSS visa in the short-term stream? π₯
Good news! Soon, you may be able to apply for Australian Permanent Residency (PR) π€©
Right now, as you know, if your occupation is on the short-term list (and not in a regional position), you won't have a pathway to PR.
BUT middle of 2022, this will change!
Hereβs everything you need to know:
1. What is the new pathway?
2. Who is eligible?
3. How soon can you get PR?
4. What if your current visa expires before then?
5. What should you do now?

π£ International students, GREAT news for you! π΄
International student visas holders will now be able to work more than 40 hours per fortnight, REGARDLESS of industry and occupation.
β So does this mean you can go pick up extra shifts right now??
IMPORTANT NOTE: This has only been an announcement by the Prime Minister, without an official press release or legislation update. Technically speaking, you would still be in breach of the condition if you pick up extra shifts right now. But it's very unlikely that you'll have your visa cancelled or found to be in breach by Immigration.
It's unclear if there'll be an official change of legislation, but you can rely on announcements and press releases by the government if you are questioned about your compliance with visa conditions.
Should there be an official change of legislation, we will keep you updated.
This change was announced in a press conference yesterday by Prime Minister Scott Morrison, and is aimed at helping alleviate the current worker shortages caused by COVID-19. Previously, this was restricted to those working in critical sectors (such as health care and hospitality) only.
"...Let me note the Commonwealth has already lifted the 20-hour rule on student visa holders. That decisionβs already been taken. That was taken yesterday, after the meetings we had yesterday. So students will have no hour restrictions on them being able to, available for work in Australia if theyβre already here." - Scott Morrison, 13 Jan 2022.
