To promote the creation of a standard global accounting and reporting framework to ensure the transparency and verifiability of emission reductions from SAF use.

Brisbane Airport’s International Terminal will not only be a first for the country to home Escape Lounges but also for the southern hemisphere, joining the existing award-winning lounge network across the UK and the US.

Scheduled for opening in late 2024, it will located on the terminal’s mezzanine level. A dedicated space away from the hustle and bustle of the airport terminal with design taking inspiration from the South East Queensland region.

In particular, references to canopy shade structures found in the Brisbane and Queensland architectural vernacular will define the lounge’s seating zones, while an elegant colour and material palette will sit comfortably with Australian contemporary artists’ works.

CAVU, the parent company of Escape Lounges, has been working with Brisbane Airport for over the past five years, deploying its pre-booking services for its car parking offering.

In her interaction with Indian Express, Melbourne Airport's chief executive officer, Lorie Argus, said India is now the fastest-growing long-haul market for Melbourne Airport, also known locally as Airport.

Melbourne — home to the largest population of the Indian diaspora in Australia, is seeing rapid growth in demand for direct air connectivity with India.

Lorie added that 70% of the traffic between India and Australia still goes through connecting hubs like Singapore, and those hubs have not suffered. This shows us that the demand is underserviced.

Melbourne Airport has grown direct services to India in the last 12 months by 330%, and all those flights are going full. Furthermore, Air India and IndiGo are working to significantly expand their fleets and networks, and the airport expects them to enhance direct connectivity between India and Melbourne over the next few years.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai, India, has significantly increased its terminal entry points, aka eGates, from 24 to 68 — the highest number at an airport in India — which is expected to decrease the passenger wait times considerably.

The addition has led to the airport's processing capacity tripling to 7,440 passengers per hour at Terminal 2 (T2) and 2,160 at Terminal 1 (T1).

Terminal 2 now features 28 dedicated DigiYatra e-gates and 28 non-DigiYatra e-gates. Terminal 1 includes six dedicated DigiYatra e-gates and six non-DigiYatra e-gates.

passengers can get through e-gates using biometric validation without showing their ticket, boarding pass, or identity verification.

The airport has deployed Digi Buddies to guide first-time DigiYatra passengers through the self-service systems. CSMIA will also implement AI and machine learning-enabled cameras to enhance security.

In the 2023-24 period, Mumbai airport recorded over 52.8 million passengers, marking a 16% year-over-year increase in passenger traffic compared to the previous year’s 43.9 million passengers.

As part of the 12-year commercial agreement, Perth Airport will invest around $3 billion in new terminal facilities and a new parallel runway.

Qantas and Jetstar, a wholly owned subsidiary of Qantas, will relocate all services to this new terminal in the Airport Central precinct, enabling the growth to turn Western Australia into a major domestic and international hub for the airlines.
This will significantly enhance inbound tourism and give Australians more options when travelling to Asia, Africa, and Europe.

The $3 billion works will form part of a $5 billion capital investment program by – the largest ever private infrastructure development in Perth, which will also deliver two multi-storey car parks, major access roadworks, and the airport’s first hotel.

The two airlines plan to add 4.4 million seats to and from annually by the time the new terminal opens in 2031.

To create additional capacity in the interim while the new terminals are built, Perth Airport will also upgrade Terminals 3 and 4 – the current home of Qantas domestic and international flights. The upgrades will enable Qantas to add services and more destinations, including Auckland and Johannesburg, from mid-2025, subject to meeting border agency requirements.

The national carrier also plans to build a new engineering hangar in the Airport Central precinct.

Qantas will also work with the airport on plans for a multi-lounge precinct for international and domestic passengers with a new signature design and bespoke dining and wellness initiatives.
