We were lucky to attend the launch of Uniworld x Camilla and her latest collection: House of the Sun, inspired by Camilla Franks own travels to Egypt, with Uniworld River Cruises.

Janene is one of the lucky few invited to say "welcome home" at the historic Australian debut of the Scenic Eclipse II in Sydney on Saturday.

🗺️ Lisbon Part 3: Accommodation

While in Lisbon before Avalon Waterways’ christening of their new Suite Ship the Avalon Alegria, Janene made time for the all-important hotel inspections of some wonderful Lisbon accommodation.

Her first stay was in the historic 🏨 RITZ FOUR SEASONS LISBON, built in the 1950s and Lisbon’s most iconic hotel.

“Built with Louis XVI styling, and home to the 🍴 CURA Michelin star restaurant, the hotel offers every luxury expected of a Four Seasons hotel.”

“Perfectly located high on the hill with fab views over the city and the expansive Edward VII Park. Rooms are absolutely stunning.”

Janene also stayed at 🏨 TIVOLI AVENIDA LIBERDADE LISBOA, part of the Leading Hotels of the World luxury hotel brand.

This hotel is included in the Avalon Waterways 3 night pre-cruise option for Douro River cruises on the new Avalon Alegria.

“This is a cracking location and junior suite rooms were huge.”

“The hotel is located on the stunning Avenida Boulevard, amongst the high-end retail, with weekend markets located along the promenade. And what an incredible view from the roof-top Sky Bar over the Avenida da Liberdade, with views towards the river and city skyline.”

Other excellent accommodation choices in Lisbon:

🗺️ Lisbon Sightseeing (Part 2)

Janene participated in several excursions before her river cruise on Avalon Alegria:

⭐ Wonders of Cascais, a guided tour to discover the charming Citadel of Cascais, a set of fortifications built between the 15th and 17th centuries to defend against attacks on Lisbon, before being introduced to the wonders of the Palácio da Cidadela de Cascais, the official summer residence of the Portugal’s President. Stroll through the Old Town’s streets, full of outdoor cafés and restaurants, overlooking the marvellous beaches.

⭐ Bites & Highlights of Lisbon, exploring and learning all about local wines and cuisine on a special gastronomic and cultural walking tour in the colourful city. Interact with the owners and workers in local establishments and indulge in tapas, traditions, and the tastes of this wonderful city.

⭐ Wonders of Sintra with Cabo da Roca: a half-day guided excursion to Sintra, to discover over 1,000 years of history with a visit to Portugal’s 15th-century National Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After your visit, continue to Cabo da Roca to enjoy some free time at the westernmost point of continental Europe.

💡 Janene’s tip for a great excursion: hire a car and head east to the lovely 🍷 wine region of Évora (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Driving is easy on Portugal’s fabulous motorways.
