The Asset Management Council is a membership-based, not-for-profit organization, a Technical Society of Engineers Australia, a founding member of the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM) and a founding member of the World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM). As an internationally recognized organisation at the forefront of asset management knowledge and development, we provide

information and guidance on asset management across a multitude of industries and professional roles, both in Australia and overseas. Our professional services, technical knowledge, and organisational experience act as a platform for professional development and industry recognition, and our international affiliations link our stakeholders to a community whose knowledge and experience is drawn from all levels of practice. We had the Asset Management Council's annual Asset Management Excellence Awards on Tuesday, 16th April, where winners of a variety of categories were announced. To celebrate and recognize their achievements, we are delighted to celebrate Birdon for winning the Asset Management Sustainability Award for their exemplary work in the decommissioning of the ex-naval ship, HMAS Sirius. ๐Ÿ›ณ๏ธ๐ŸŒ

Birdonโ€™s innovative end-of-life asset management solution tackled the complex challenge of environmentally controlled disposal of the largest maritime structure in Australia. Their world-first approach ensured safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility, recovering and recycling up to 99% of materials.

This project showcases best practices in end-of-life asset management, significantly contributing to Australiaโ€™s maritime capabilities.

The Gippsland Chapter of the Asset Management Council, together with the Centre for Smart Analytics (CSA) and the Institute of Innovation, Science and Sustainability (IISS) at Federation University Australia, recently held a successful seminar on Digital Twins. We explored its applications in smart homes, industrial, and health sector assets.

A big thank you to Dr. Rakesh Mishra and Prof. Leigh Fleming from Huddersfield, UK, for their excellent presentations, and to Prof. Nigel Schofield for sharing his research on battery asset management online from the UK.

Special thanks to Dr. Gopinath Chattopadhyay for arranging the entire event, and to Professors Syed Islam and Iven Mareels for acknowledging the Huddersfield team, Federation University researchers, and industry delegates for their valuable contributions. The event was capped off with a fantastic networking session sponsored by the Asset Management Council.

The Asset Management Council was delighted to host an engaging and informative event organised by our Sydney Chapter, with a special thanks to Katherine Xie for her leadership.

The evening featured a distinguished panel including Irina Tyan from Sydney Trains, Madeleine English from KPMG Australia, Braeden Knox from WSP, and Amel Tokalic from UGL Regional Linx, with Katherine Xie from the AMCouncil YAMP Committee serving as an exceptional facilitator.

The discussion spanned a variety of contemporary topics such as AI, sustainability, diversity, and the interdisciplinary nature of asset management. Highlights included valuable insights on the importance of developing soft skills in an AI-driven world and the necessity of regular, hands-on engagement with our assets. With such talented young professionals leading the way, the future of asset management looks promising.

We had an amazing evening on Wednesday as the Asset Management Council Brisbane Chapter hosted an event on Asset Lifecycle Planning, streamed live to the Townsville City Council. This formed a new Townsville Hub where professionals gathered to engage and share knowledge.

Last night, the Asset Management Council's Melbourne Chapter hosted an engaging technical meet titled "Different Contexts โ€“ Same Problems: A discussion about how AM is undertaken in Australia vs the UAE."

This insightful event featured a presentation by Travis Soutter, Managing Director of Concordia Asset Management. Travis guided the attendees through a comparative analysis of asset management practices in Australia and the UAE, highlighting how both regions, despite their distinct landscapes, regulatory frameworks, and economic conditions, face similar challenges.

Through detailed case studies and industry examples, Travis illustrated how asset managers in both countries can learn from each otherโ€™s strategies, fostering innovation and collaboration. This discussion underscored the universal nature of asset management issues and showcased unique approaches to overcoming them, providing valuable insights for practitioners globally.

Thanks to the Melbourne Chapter for pulling this together, namely Chair Andrew Sarah, committee member Shane Scriven, and Vice-Chair Himanshu Jindal who did a wonderful job facilitating the evening.

We are excited to announce that today marks the culmination of over 2.5 years of work involving approximately 250 people from around the world, including many Asset Management Council members / volunteers. The Global Forum of Maintenance and Asset Management (GFMAM) is pleased to release Version 3.0 of the GFMAM Asset Management (AM) Landscape.

Thirteen years since its inception, this much-anticipated V3.0 is not just an update but a significant milestone, offering a contemporary and comprehensive view of asset management from a truly international perspective. This new version is aligned with the recent updates to ISO 55001:2024 and organises asset management thinking systems into seven easy-to-read groups, facilitating vital business thinking.

To celebrate this release, we held a launch webinar event featuring Hardwick and Daines, who provided valuable insights into the new, updated, and deleted items in this version. As key contributors to the global revision, they also answered members' questions, offering a unique opportunity to engage directly with the experts.
