Some fabulous produce being offered for sale today. Winter always has me thinking about warm vegetables. Our tours are on again, especially for new business owners, F&V and flower sellers.

Today was my pick up day for the regular donations by many of the generous traders to the Market Fresh schools program run by MMA.
Most weeks during school term we do a collection. Only a few lined up for photos today😊
We’ll be back with the program next term.

Every market day is same, same but different.
Spotted this week...citrus sellers with a sense of humour, packaging on the garlic I have never noticed before! Want strawberries? You’ll need a couple of pineapples to buy😂

Lots going on at the market this month. Seasonal produce always worth a closer look. Jerusalem artichokes, bravo apples, Buddha’s hand, cumquats & custard apples.

We’re in the middle of our annual Autumn Mushroom Foraging Workshops in Macedon. On each weekend and available for private bookings from industry, it’s been extremely successful so far despite the drier than normal season.

Big week at the market as we welcomed floristry students, picked up produce for the schools program run by MMA and found ourselves on the trading floor more than usual.

Another fine morning...cold but fine!
Always something new to look at too. Mother’s Day is coming to the flower market, missile apples are perfect lunchbox size and a good range of dragon fruit & citrus can be found.

We’ve been focusing some of our energy on the flower market. In the lead up to Mother’s Day, 4 weeks away, the flower market fills with fantastic blooms and we have a rush on our tours, mostly business, floristry student & public visitors. Tours on Saturdays are when we sell public tickets. Most do lots of shopping...and that’s ok! 🌻🌺🌸🍁

It’s tempting this week to focus on flowers with MIFGS in Melbourne. Instead we thought you might like to see our week of welcoming Hospitality students from Holmesglen to the trading floor and a glimpse of the Market Fresh ladies at their presentation at Toyota.
Autumn nuts, amazing pumpkins and traders who always support what we do. Love it 😍

We’ve had some excellent tours again this week, due in part to wonderful, generous traders like Produce of Virginia. Who doesn’t like to sample new varieties of mango at 6.00am! Pink Champagne even sounds like the perfect breakfast snack😂😂

Beautiful sunrise, fresh produce. New season persimmons have arrived. Jason the tropical fruit category king from Ten Farms is always onto it. We started at the market on Footscray Rd at a similar time... 14 or 15 years coming up! But who’s counting😂😂😂

Had a chance to catch up on newest arrivals on the trading floor. Lots of Valencia oranges - not kissed by the sun but so juicy & tasty! Fantastic looking lemons here from Egypt- the fruits travel more than I do!
Beautiful, seasonal pistachios and the last of this seasons local asparagus- I hadn’t realised we could still get local. Getting busier on site.

There’s a whole world of people trying not to sleep. They’re working through the night in Epping so you can eat well from your local f&v store or cafe.

Love going out and about to see what’s happening in the ‘burbs with f&v retailers. New for me I caught up with MarketaandCo Pinewood in Mt Waverley. Here’s a great place to shop if you’re anywhere near by...or travel a bit, like I do😂
Price wise, they’re definitely giving the big supermarkets a run for their money. I think most local fruit shops do!!
Gotta love some serious pizza dough throwing skills too!

Checking what’s new...there’s that wonderful book from Fruit Nerd Thanh. Gooseberries, available for two weeks only (who knew!!). And red currents, all coming in very early for Xmas!

A quick trip into the market today to collect produce for the Market Fresh Schools Program. The perfect incursion for Primary School students.
And just enough time to see that the Xmas grinch has arrived, the flower market is very busy & a rainy morning doesn’t make any difference at all! Except for the traffic as we leave😂😂

October has been a busy month in the market. Flower market tours, Industry group tours and lots of Private tours in all areas & continuing to help with the incursion MFSP program for Primary schools
It’s also a bit of a celebration time for us as we enter our 15th year of running tours at the market, 6 years at West Melbourne & now at Epping😊🥦🌻

So exciting to see Fruit Nerd Thanh receiving recognition for all that he contributes to the fresh produce industry. I first met Thanh at the market on Footscray Rd and his enthusiasm for the industry has not waned in more than 10 years.
Thanks again Thanh for my very own author signed copy. It’s a fantastic book... just watch me use all the detail as my own when I’m next asked questions on tour 😂😂😂
