From 01 July 2022:
Anyone who holds a 482 visa and is working in an occupation on the short term occupation list can now apply for a ENS Subclass 186 transitional stream permanent residency visa after 3 years as long as the applicant met the following criteria:

1) were onshore in Australia for at least 12 months between Feb 2020 and Dec 2021 and at the time of application are employees by a lawfully operating business in Australia

Those who were eligible for grandfathering arrangements also extended for the old 457 cohorts of 18 April 2017.

Visa Holders Covid-19 Breaches are triggering Cancellations!

Minister for Immigration Alwex Hawke recently quoted "if they are a temporary visa holder, we will cancel their visa".

During the christmas period there were large gartherings in Sydney and Melbourne where is was alleged that majority of attendees were clearly breaching public health orders, majority of these were backpackers.

The police across Australia involved in the management of these public health orders have been instructed to liase with the Department of Home Affairs for reporting fines and convictions relating to Covid-19 Breaches.

s116 of the Migration Act gives the Minister discretionary cancellation powers.

The notices issued under s116 have been in response to the numerous hotel quarantine excapes, misleading contact tracers, numerous covid-19 fines for the same individual and evading border quarantine control measures.

So for those that continue to flout the rules beware you are now in the Ministers sights.

International Travel is off the cards for 2021!

Currently we are waiting on the COVID vaccine to roll out, but even when it does health authorities advice is still unsure when immunity will become effective within the community upon vaccination, and therefore International travel inbound and outbound is off the cards for 2021.
