Back in the mid 1800’s Camels were imported to Australia to help build some of our major infrastructure like the overland telegraph, The Ghan and Trans Australian Railways and even the Kalgoorlie pipeline. The use for Camels quieted down around 1920’s when cars and steam trains became more popular which eventually saw Camels become redundant for our infrastructure needs. At Camel West we’ve found a new job for Camels and it’s a lot more exciting than building railway lines.

Nice place for a swim … if you are a big lazy Bungarra😀

The time has come for us to move on from our camel adventure. Thanks to all our supporters over the years and especially to our best supporters, Mr Pink, Blister, Big Red, Kamahl, White Knight, Gemma, Blondie and BlackJack.
They are off to Oakfield Ranch at Anna Bay NSW. We have been there and it’s a stunning location. Camels will love it and so will you if you’re over that way. Drop in and check them out at Oakfield Ranch
near Nelson Bay.🐪🐪🐪🐪👋👋

Mocha went to Broome last year with Pink Lady and Duchess and their beautiful calves to Broome Camel Safaris. Luke first became acquainted with Mocha when camping out with his son at Morangup. He is now preparing her for beach life🏝🏖😀 A few pics of Luke putting Blister through his paces with the training sled.
Those camels are in great hands with Luke and Allison. Highly recommend them if you are riding in Broome

Keeping a close eye on Louise... a belated Christmas present I think. How long does she have to go before delivery? And what is it?
If she delivers quickly it’s a Jenny if she takes longer it’s a Jack, if it’s anything like our experience with camels! The males like to stay a bit longer😀.
Donkeys are generally in gestation for 12 to as long as 14 months.

The Camel West Story

Australia’s only Inner City Camel Riding Tour is coming back to Elizabeth Quay. We have just enjoyed the best winter ever at Town Beach Exmouth.

Hop aboard our majestic camels on the bank of the Swan River for a unique experience on these beautiful animals who enjoy showing you through the Canary Island Date Palms, past the Bell Tower and through Barrack Square in Elizabeth Quay. A series of free photos of your ride including you feeding your camel carrot (they love carrot) after the ride will be taken and sent to you to share with friends and family.

During our camel ride tours our Head Cameleer, Jon will give you a little history about camels. Back in the mid 1800’s camels were imported to Australia to help build some of our major infrastructure like the overland telegraph, The Ghan and Trans Ausralian Railways and even the Kalgoorlie pipeline. The use of camels reduced around the 1920’s when cars and steam trains became more popular which eventually saw camels become redundant for our infrastructure needs.
