One way that Infuse Travel is working to support Sustainable Development Goal #11 is through our Cambodia house building projects. Partnering with a Cambodian non-profit, Infuse has been supporting the construction of new timber homes in the south-eastern province of Kampong Cham.

In 2023, for example, Victoria’s Cornish College were able to work with us to build 3 new houses in Kampong Cham – and Infuse plans to support the building of a further 4-5 houses later this year. Read more via the link below.

Small scale changes can and do make meaningful impacts, particularly when made as part of a larger collective effort. In Cambodia, government, non-profit organisations, the private sector, and local communities are all actively working to address housing needs.

A recent Infuse corporate adventure challenge saw groups exploring the wonders of K’gari!

One of many groups departing regularly throughout the year, these teams work together to trek across the island over 3 days, discovering stunning areas such as Lake Mackenzie, Central Station and the Badjala sandblow.

Trekkers are treated to a comfy resort stay on their final night to celebrate their achievements, and rest weary bones after two days of camping. 🙌

A service project we’re really proud of is our Cambodian house building initiatve. Partnering with a Cambodian-run non-profit organisation, Infuse has been supporting the construction of new timber homes in the south-eastern province of Kampong Cham.

In 2023, Victoria’s Cornish College were able to work with us to build 3 new houses in Kampong Cham – and Infuse plans to support the building of a further 4-5 houses later this year.

Kampong Cham is one of Cambodia’s most highly populated provinces and is home to both urban and rural communities, the latter growing many export crops including to***co, soya-beans, and rubber.

The rural villages that Infuse Travel supports in Cambodia have been identified by the Cambodian NGO we partner with, who consult with local communities to understand where housing needs are greatest. Once a project has been identified, our visiting schools and students work alongside qualified local tradespeople to install flooring, walls and roofing.

To help students better understand how their efforts contribute to both community needs and broader global challenges, housebuilding is also accompanied by focused learning activities that include self-reflection, discussions on global housing accessibility, and the sharing of local knowledge and expertise.

According to Cambodian government projections, Cambodia will need an estimated 1.1 million new houses by 2030 to meet the population’s needs.

As part of our Top End Cultural Immersions students are welcomed onto country by the proud Limilngan-Wulna people in the Adelaide River region, outside of Darwin.

These First Nations families teach our student groups about their land, history and culture. Students will learn the different medicinal uses for plants, how to basket weave, spear throw and even play the didgeridoo.

To see the physical results of your hard work is a feeling that’s hard to describe! In Kampong Cham, Cambodia - our school groups learn from, and work alongside local partners on projects to empower and help women, children and marginalized members of the Kampong Cham community. These projects are developed in conjunction with community members, in areas of education, health and income generation.

A recent project involved the construction of a village home for a family in need.

Infuse Student Led Expeditions are incredible journeys that promote personal development that’s hard to replicate in any other settings. 🏔️🥾

Student Led Expeditions put the student voice at the helm, as they develop decision making skills, leadership skills and empathy on an adventure with real impact.

We’re still buzzing from our week with the wonderful group of Year 8’s from in the surrounds of Portland in Southwest Victoria. The Year 8 ‘Take The Leap’ Program is part of Infuse’s suite of Year 7-10 programs designed in conjunction with Mentone Girls’ Grammar School, encompassing Central Australia, South East Queensland, the Grampians and Portland in 2024! All programs foster rich experiential learning and support the students on their journey to becoming thoughtful and compassionate leaders.

In Portland, our school teams embarked on an exciting intro to outdoor life and adventure! Our campers traversed stunning landscapes on a 2-day, 2-night hike, explored wondrous cave systems, headed out on awe-inspiring seal spotting expeditions and fine tuned their surfing skills at Bridgewater Bay. Experiencing many diverse national parks along the way, students also learned about the traditional owners of the land, the Gunditjimara people.

Congratulations to all the teachers, students and leaders involved in this exciting week! We look forward to welcoming the Year 9’s to Central Australia in a few months time.
