Alex here! I loved hanging out with Trevor and Julie and Peter and Leanne on last night’s bar tour. 🍸🍻
Both couples know Newy, but none of them knew about any of the bars on our tour. We all had a blast discussing everything from new Newy street art to old cold chisel classics!

Why do you love being a tour guide?
I love being able to share what I love about Newcastle, and my life in Newcastle with other people. It’s great seeing the excitement and surprise that new knowledge and information brings. Also it’s a job where I am outside in the world and active in the community!

What do you do when you’re not running tours?
I am a photographer, and I have just started a social group called Newy Friends - it’s an amazing community picnic where we find friends the old-school way!!

What would be your perfect day in Newcastle?
I’d ride my bike to sunrise swim at Bar Beach 🚲🏊‍♀️, have a hot chocolate ☕️ from the Kiosk, and a really good convo on the steps of Newy Beach. Brekky at Estabar 🥞, a Newy Friends community picnic 👯‍♀️, and then finishing with music and a drink 🍻 somewhere!

What do you love most about being Novocastrian?
I love the size of Newcastle, accessibility to independent businesses in town, proximity to the beach, and the support and strength of my community! That I can ride everywhere! And always run into someone I know!!

Why do you love being a tour guide?
I love meeting people and I’m a bit of a nerd. Even when I am not doing it for a job, I just can’t help sharing knowledge, great tips, and things to do in my town.

What do you do when you are not running tours?
I love spending time with my dog, Reuben, or catching up with mates / going camping!

What 3 things would be part of your perfect day in Newcastle?
☕️ Coffee at sunrise at Newcastle Beach
🐋 Whale watching on shore or with .xp
🍕 Pizza and trivia at The Ori then karaoke at Jam’s
