Accommodation Bathurst is 40km away, Lithgow 50km, Jenolan, Wombeyan and Abercrombie Caves are within a 1 hour radius, along with Orange, Cowra and Crookwell.

After a 3 minute walk to town you will find an IGA, Chemist, Cafes', Newsagency, Bakeries, Pizza Shop, P.O., Medical Centre, NRMA, two Hotels, RSL Club and two Butcher Shops. Goulburn and Mudgee are just on 2 hours. Trout fishing on Lake Oberon (open all year), mushrooming in pine forests, gem fossicking for sapphires and precious stones, hiking and mountain bike riding in National Parks and State

Forests, all of which are just some of the activities you can do here. Winter in Oberon, when the snow is falling, is a sight to see and well worth the visit. Several snowfalls can be expected each year and even in summer the temperature can drop, offering four seasons in one day. Mayfield Gardens is a 160 acre privately owned garden, and is open several times a year. It offers a wonderful day out and is only 10kms from the Cottage.
