D-Day - June 6, 1942.
What an incredible photo of Canadian 🇨🇦 soldiers storming Juno Beach.

Australian involvement in Operation Overlord:
3,300 personnel - mainly air crews (2,800) and sailors (500).
13 Australians were attached to British Army units for the actual beach landings, including Major Henry “Jo” Gullet (picture attached) who landed at Gold Beach fought with the Green Howards.

Day 2 of our April tour and the crew are heading into the jungle just south of Deniki.
This image captures the amazing contrast in vegetation you’ll find on the Track … from low lying choco vines into the tall timber.

A tremendous turnout from the village of Buna for our 2024 ANZAC Day service.
A battlefield unknown to some …. Buna, along with Gona and Sanananda, was a hell hole in late 1942 and early 1943.

From Irene Cu***ng & Julie Garnett
St Mary's Anglican Girls' School

"Kokoda 2023 was a hike that now seems like a dream.
It truly immersed our school group of 26 students and 4 teachers into the history of the Kokoda Campaign. Without the distraction of phones and social media, we were able to experience the pristine jungle environment and, at the same time, acknowledge the sacrifice, courage, endurance, and mateship of the diggers who fought there in 1942.
Travis and the “Kokoda Crossing” team were so professional and meticulous in their preparation of our group from WA. His passion and knowledge of the history of the track, gave us the context to understand the various perspectives of all those who were a part of this significant event. The physical challenges of the 96 km trek were just a small part of this life changing experience. To walk in the footsteps of the diggers alongside the local porters was a privilege. They created a spiritual and respectful environment for us all to immerse ourselves in the history of Kokoda, and to honour the sacrifices of those who had been a part of the campaign.
In particular, I would like to thank “Kokoda Crossing” and the porters, for the very emotional Dawn Service at Brigade Hill, to honour my uncle (Terence McDonald from the 2/16th Battalion) who was reported missing in action on 8th September 1942. Our group also learnt some great life lessons, such as teamwork, gratitude, pride, and resilience.
Thank you, Travis, for taking such good care of everyone, and guiding us all the way to Owers’ Corner".

We are going to have well prepared and fit trekkers this year.
Great application to their preparation and knowledge base before they bounce out.
Bickley Reservoir was the location this weekend … 10.5km, 3 hours and 700m of ascent.
Top job crew.
