Woodman Point Jetty project - have your say!
Feedback required by 6th September.

The Woodman Point Ammo Jetty was originally constructed in 1903, and has been open to the public since 1984. The surrounding beach and the existing jetty are popular for swimming, fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving. Sadly, the jetty is well beyond its intended life.

So long, farewell . . . Lionfish over & out!

It is with much sadness we confirm that the owners of Lionfish IV have decided to sell the vessel. Here we are, delivering the boat down to Henderson for refit.

As operators of the boat for the past 2 years we have loved serving the dive community here in Perth - you guys rock! We’ve really appreciated the support you have shown us, the camaraderie of last year’s winter season was fantastic (those hoodies really will be a collectors item now!), and the ongoing support of our many regulars has been second to none. Thank you too, to those of you who came diving with us for your first time, for trusting us to take care of you, and for coming back out with us time and again. Our goal was for the boat to always be a welcoming place, and somewhere you could feel comfortable diving from, even if you were only just at the start of your dive journey.

We’d like to give a big shout out to all the dive shops and dive professionals that we’ve worked with during our time. A massive, massive thank you too, to the team who helped to make this a great place to work! Kate, Kaz, Brechin, Courtney, Bjorn, Taneeke, Zarina, Doug, Colby, Greg and everyone else who worked or volunteered with us.

All the best to everyone in these Covid times - keep diving, and have a great summer!

Friend of the boat, Nick Thake Photography, getting some local and international press for this great photo taken last week!

Photographer Nick Thake, 37, from Perth, visited North Beach hoping to get an image of the surf when he accidentally snapped the mischievous sea lion that breached the water during one of the shots.

SUPPORT LOCAL
In these tough times, we're sure one of the troubling thoughts keeping you up at night is 'What can I do to help support my favourite dive operator?'

We know how important a good night's sleep is, so to assist you in achieving that, we thought we'd outline some things you might like to do now and during the easing of restrictions!! 😊

1) Leave us a review/recommendation via our FB page or Google (https://bit.ly/LFCGoogleReview)

2) Book (online only please - http://bit.ly/bookdive) to come diving with us, single dive charters commence from Saturday 23rd May!

3) Share photos from your charter & tag us on Social Media.
FB = Charters
IG =

4) Recommend us to friends. Better yet, introduce a new buddy to the boat by bringing them with you next time you join us for a dive.

SIMPLE 😊

You support us, and we'll do our very best to be here for you too.

As we plan for our post-iso return to the ocean, we felt perhaps it was important to explain why we're offering single dives first off.

It basically boils down to the fact that costs associated with running a double dive charter (fuel, wages, food, etc) leave little in the way of profit when we're limited to a max of 15 divers. Yes, we have previously run full day charters with a similar number on board, but that's during the usual course of operation. A time when we can balance the quieter days against the busy, and when there is regular income to cover basic overheads.

While we all hope this goes well, we know the current easing of restrictions may, at any point, be reversed if we experience a spike in cases. While that remains a possibility, we can't rely on having a consistent income stream, so service offerings have to be tempered by that.

We want to be here for the LONG RUN. We want to come through this period and be able to return to offering you, our dive community, the level of service, and dive experience, you previously came to expect from us. When restrictions lift enough to allow greater numbers on the boat, and once Rotto is open again, we'll resume our usual service. Until then, we'll need to mix things up a little and we hope you'll stick with us for the ride!

So what does diving post-lockdown look like? Well, for now, Rotto remains closed to boating, as it continues to serve as a quarantine location. So we'll have to wait a little longer before we can return there, but that just provides a great excuse to explore sites along our coastline! We dived some of these a couple of times earlier this year and they really delivered, especially for those in search of crays!!

Woo hoo, Phase 2!!!

Mark McGown announced this morning that WA is to commence Phase 2 from Monday 18th May. This phase allows for gatherings of 20 people, which means dive charters are now viable for us.

We've been working hard preparing for this, we're excited about returning to the water, and we very much look forward to welcoming you back on board. 💙

Hurrah for some official clarification as to Covid19 restrictions and charter boat operations. The COVID-19 Hotline has so far advised that dive charters should remain closed. However an update to the FAQs relating to the easing of restrictions, provided today (30/4), now defines the conditions under which charter operators might resume some services.

Despite having the space, we really need more than 8 divers per charter, so we'll hold tight for now. But soon, we hope 🙏🏼

COVID-19 UPDATE

Many thanks to all of you who've been in contact these past few days, enquiring if we might now be able to resume dive operations. We would love nothing more than to go diving!

WA has done a fantastic job containing the virus, and the easing of restrictions that commenced this week is a welcome move. Based on the latest updates to the Emergency Management Act 2005 (WA), premises that are for sporting or entertainment purposes are still prohibited from operating. Charter vessels aren't explicitly mentioned, but the intent of the legislation is clear and we do not meet any of the exception criteria. It would also prove somewhat challenging to operate a charter that meets the requirement to limit groups to a maximum of 10 people, provide 4sqm per person, AND maintain the 1.5m physical distancing.

So for now, a dive charter remains both a 'prohibited activity and gathering', with potential consequences for both organisers and participants.

As soon as we can, we will. But until then, enjoy the shore diving 🤿

So the time has come and lockdown approaches. These are strange and unsettling times, and we all have a part to play in overcoming the threat presented by COVID-19.

Effective immediately we are cancelling all events planned for March and April. If you have a booking with us for this period we will contact you directly. An update on our May schedule will be provided next week.

Thanks again to you, our loyal and wonderful customers, and to our dedicated and professional team! Stay home, stay safe and look after each other! Hopefully we'll all be back out diving again soon.
