Floors by Hudson

Floors by Hudson All aspects of Timber and Cork Flooring. Over 20 years experience. Deciding now as I'm getting older to slow things down a bit.

I finished my Carpentry apprenticeship at Bunnings Specialty Flooring over 20 years ago and enjoyed this field that much that I haven't stopped doing it. This is why I am leaving a great mate and successful partner in Dion Pask, to pursue a bit more of life outside of work and even open up options to take my craft to different parts of our great state. Of course its all dependant on the weather and if the fish are biting :)

I have finished the reno i started several weeks back.
Big thanks to Nik from “In Touch with Wood” with the kitchen and Muzz from “Top End Building” for all his help and advice and great company.
I couldn’t of done it as efficiently without these blokes 🙏

Converting a carport into and entry/lounge, rearranging the kitchen and bedroom for a better use of space with a bigger WIR. Lots of fun and games dealing with existing construction as per every renovation.

Client is stoked. Dishwasher and a swap around with the split Aircons to be sorted out later. Along with an island bench that will be moveable, but that design isn’t finalized.

Great to do something different to flooring.

So folks I’ve been out of action for a bit and my Doc wants me off the tools until August 15th😳
I’ve had a lot of time to watch Netflix, get better at chess and contemplate things.
And I’ve decided to pull the pin on my flooring business. Almost 30 years and I think it’s time to have a change of scenery.
Thank you to all those that have helped me stay in this business for this long. I am very grateful and really appreciate all my clients and friends I’ve made along the way. Cheers to you all🍻🍻
I am not taking on anymore work.
I will be looking after the several clients on the books and that will be it for me.
I am hopeful to get enough money in the bank to finance another 3 months off to have a procedure done that’s not covered by insurance. ☹️
Once I’m back on my feet I’ll be trying something new👍
I am excited and nervous about turning over a new leaf in 2023.
Thanks again🍻👍

So outside work, I like to ride my mountain bikes.
I’ve ridden to Albany twice on the Munda biddi and ride at least twice a week around local and state trails.
It’s my thing, my reason for work, to buy nice bikes and enjoy the great Aussie bush.
Anyways, I had a decent crash at the end of April and it turns out I’m going to be out of action for over another 3 months.
Broken collarbone, multiple rib fractures all on my left side and I’ve broken a bone in my right thumb that needs surgery next week, followed by 12 weeks rehabilitation 🙈
So I’m busy palming work off, or postponing, or even canceling.
Sorry for any inconvenience it may cause.
Cheers,
Huddo

Refurbishing these decks in Bicton has kept me busy this week.

To prove I’ve actually been working here is a few pics of a mates house down in lovely Nannup. She was a super rough floor. Bit of wandoo, karri, jarrah and even pine throughly this one.
LOBA Supra used on this 👌

Another crazy slab. Old garage with a pit filled in, now going to be a granny flat. Nicest clients ever. Fiddle jobs aren’t a hassle working for folk like these. Thanks Dave and Fi👍👍

There’s always a nice sense of achievement when you’re faced with “out of the ordinary” floor to install.
This slab was over 190mm out. Had to incorporate a step to help level this beast out.
I’ve got another crazy slab to sort out next week too😂

Who the hell edges a floor like this?

Friggen cowboys. If you can’t work out how to use your edger properly then just smash up and into the beading or skirting. 👍
Yeah why not🙈

I just finished a fiddly installation job.
Wrapping a landing and half a flight. Nothing was accurately square or level which made setting out a hassle. Pretty much a day of making up mock up pieces and getting measurements sorted so it would look right.
Not practical in my eyes, but you just do whatever the client wants.
Once it’s sanded I’ll get some more snaps.
