"I'd like to offer my congratulations to the organisers of this event for offering a challenging course (I did the Gran) that had a lot of twists and turns, but signage enabled easy navigation.
A big thank you to the volunteers who gave up their time to make the event that it was. I'd like to see it continue in future years and I think the word will spread and more riders will become participants.
The charity focus is important as well and everyone involved should be commended for doing something to address this situation.

While the glow of the after from the Perth Hills Grand Fondo is starting to fade, this is a timely reminder about our nominated charity Street Friends WA.
Theirs is not a 'sexy' attention seeking kind of charitable organization that many want to be associated with, YET the root cause of their operations is our collective community responsibility.
Something about them so there is transparency the next time you go to a Gala Ball or a Fund Raising Event with a lot of money spent on dresses, gowns, balloons, tables filled with food etc.
Street Friends WA is a not-for-profit organization run entirely by volunteers in Western Australia. They receive no government assistance and rely solely on the generosity of the community to survive. Every Thursday evening between 5pm and 6pm, they distribute essential items to the homeless in Perth:
1. Sleeping bags and blankets
2. Warm clothing
3. Hygiene products
Additionally, they volunteer alongside the Sikh Association, helping distribute hot food and bread every Thursday from 6pm to 8pm in Moore St. Their mission is to make life more comfortable for Western Australia’s homeless population, and their vision is a future where no one has to sleep on the streets
If you’d like to contribute, here are some essential items you can donate:
1. Blankets and sleeping bags: Any clean blankets, sleeping bags, doonas, doona covers, sheets, pillowcases, and pillows are welcome.
2. Warm jackets, clothing, and shoes: They accept all men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing and shoes, including jeans, joggers, trainers, hoodies, t-shirts, and shorts.
3. Underwear and socks: Clean socks are especially valuable for those living on the streets. Please ensure that underwear and socks are new.
4. Personal hygiene items: Donations of shampoo, soap, shaving supplies, tampons, and feminine pads are greatly appreciated

Cycling Community: The First Rains after a prolonged period is upon us and the cumulated road grease /slick will be around every major corner and intersection.
This will take some days to wash off so be careful out there and choose your ride days ahead carefully.

Appreciative of the crew from Happy healthy care who are dedicated and ethical NDIS accommodation and personal care providers who gave back to our Cycling community by supporting the Perth Hills Grand Fondo at the Medio / Gran food stop at Carmel Tea Rooms. To Sue and her team, those angel wings you all wore were real in our eyes!

Descend to Zig Zag which will host the first of many Water Stations at the base for all three categories before the commencement of the climbs.

The City of Armadale Grand Fondo was founded some 6 years in what is now recognised as the FIRST ever Grand Fondo in Western Australia. Our first year included a Kermesse but by the second year we returned back to our fundamental roots of being a cycling touring event with different distances for different abilities amongst cyclists
CAGF originally embraced two distances but since 2017 we have three to choose from namely the Piccolo 50 km, Medio 90 km and our signature Gran 120 km
The cumulative elevation totals for each category make CAGF a good technical hills based ride though the Piccolo is primarily within the Armadale plains.
We have been extremely successful in integrating local infrastructure and tourism into our program with testimony being the City of Armadale itself being our primary naming rights sponsor since inception.
Join us as we recreate a little of Europe and our love of Italian based cycling events here in Western Australia in May of each year with this year being on the Sunday the 20th May 2018.
