The charming Bells at Killcare Boutique Hotel, Restaurant & Spa put on a spectacular show despite the rain, when the Alquemie team visited their brand-new lodge accommodation.

Boasting four tri-level, 2-bedroom, spacious and private luxury lodges, set among the native eucalyptus gardens. Each lodge features a private magnesium plunge pool, cozy gas fireplace, multi dining spaces, a kitchen and tastefully furnished lounge with peaked ceilings. The team at Alquemie had a spectacular afternoon on Sydney harbour, thanks to Sydney Harbour Boat Tours

Taking in the Harbour Bridge and Opera House in all their glory, and the many turquoise hidden bays with resident seals sunning themselves on the foreshore.

We learnt about the history of this beautiful harbour and cruised past some of the gorgeous architecture of some of the first houses in the area - whilst doing a little celebrity house spotting along the way!

All in all, a magnificent way to see some of the sites of Sydney - complete with champagne, beers and light afternoon snacks!

Did you know - The House on Lizard Island has a long and fascinating Aboriginal and European colonial history?

This spectacular, sustainability-built accommodation, commands 360 degree sweeping views of the World-heritage listed Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

The island was originally referred to as Dyiigurra by its traditional owners the Dingaal people. It was considered sacred land and used as an initiation location for young males and for harvesting shellfish, turtles, dugongs and fish.

Now known as Lizard Island, since Captain Cook passed through in 1770 and noticed the island’s large population of monitor lizards.

To protect the reef and landscape during The House’s construction, the materials were delivered onto an offshore pontoon and a flying fox-style contraption then carried the materials from the beach up to the site – ensuring the landscape below was completely untouched.

Now open to guests for just over a year, after its lengthy 25-year development approval to design the final buildings, responding to the sensitivity of the locations World Heritage-listed status. Steve Wilson’s vision (inspired by his late father John - who built the first lodge on Lizard Island in the late 1970s) finally came to life!

The House, positioned on a private peninsula is surrounded by tranquil turquoise waters teeming with turtles and marine life. It is located 240km north of Cairns and is managed as part of the Lizard Island Resort. Boasting exceptional food and impeccable service, this is the ultimate in barefoot luxury.

Did you know that Quokkas are only found on Rottnest & Bald Island in Australia. They are part of the Kangaroo family - otherwise know as Macropodidae. Quokkas are nocturnal and spend their day sleeping. They are the size of a small cat and live for 10 to 15 years.

One of our team were lucky enough to spend a fantastic day with Sailaway Port Douglas out on the spectacular Mackay Cay & Outer Reef. They commented that it was ‘The best reef trip they have ever experienced’ and they have done a few!

They swam with turtles and many colourful fish and were pleasantly surprised by the variety of coral 🪸 in all sades of colour. They loved the inclusion of a visit to the stunning white and sandy, Mackay Cay - adding variety to your outer reef visit. The service was first-class and the crew were excellent- all extremely knowledgeable and very attentive.

Below they are greeted by hundreds of magnificent birds as the glass bottom boat pulls onto Mackay Cay.
