Standing amidst the unshakable majesty of the Great Caucasus Mountains, the Republic Peak stands as a sentinel, its 3,740 meter height commanding the respect of anyone who dares to approach. Located on the right wing of the Tufandag range, it has a strategic position at the confluence of the Gusarchay and Demiraparan rivers. Formed by melting snow and ancient glaciers, these lush waterways not only carve the landscape with relentless force, but also weave a tapestry of weather patterns that dance around the summit, shaping its character and adding to its mystique.

On May 25, our expedition began with a hint of panic. The allure of conquering the summit of the Republic drew us like moths to a flame, despite warnings about its tempestuous nature. With careful gear checks and high spirits, our team embarked on the arduous journey, each step bringing us closer to the challenge that awaits.

As we ascended, the air became stiffer, the strong wind biting our skin. The wind, our constant companion, whispered ancient secrets as we passed through the steep slopes, reminding us of our helplessness in the face of the raw power of nature. However, fueled by perseverance and camaraderie, it continued to take our breath away like ice in the cold mountain air.

Navigating the rough terrain tested both our physical courage and our mental fortitude. The jagged rocks jutted out like the teeth of a sleeping giant, threatening to swallow those who fell. However, as we overcome each obstacle, our determination grew stronger and we continued our journey with an indomitable spirit of adventure burning within us.

As we got closer to the top, nature was unleashing its full fury on us. The wind howled with primal fury, threatening to tear us off the mountainside with every gust. However, undeterred, we forged ahead, hearts beating wildly as we faced nature's fury.

And then, as if by some divine decree, we stood atop the summit of the Republic, our triumph etched against the unforgiving desert backdrop. The hard climb was over, we reached the top at 10:12.

But our victory was short-lived, for the mountains are fickle masters, and we were reminded that no sooner had we conquered the summit of the Republic, than it was difficult to stay on top.

As we returned to the safety of lower altitudes, the memory of our ascent remained a whispered promise, evidence of the bonds forged in the crucible of adventure. Although our journey is over, the spirit of the Republic Peak will remain in our hearts forever, a beacon calling us to the untamed wilderness of the Greater Caucasus Mountains.

🇬🇧 Village, 16 kilometers from , Sundu Village has a rich historical tapestry dating back five millennia to the Bronze Age. Etched into the harsh landscapes of the Northwest region, its ancient roots run deep, as evidenced by the caves carved into the high cliffs that once sheltered its earliest inhabitants.

The 32 cemeteries scattered across the Sundu area stand as silent sentinels marking the passage of time and the generations that have come and gone. Among these ancient monuments, the mosque, erected in 920, stands tall, a symbol of enduring faith amid the rugged beauty of the rocky landscape.

Despite its height of 933 meters, Sundu lacks the lush forest cover typically found in such areas, a testament to the harsh climate that shapes its environment. However, underground springs flow beneath its barren surface, feeding both the land and its people. These hidden reservoirs give rise to the waterfalls that adorn the village's lower reaches, offering moments of tranquility amidst its rugged grandeur.

Today, Sundu is thriving with more than 600 individual farms and a population of more than 3,000 people. Here, the rhythms of life, stemming from the traditions of animal husbandry, agriculture and the fine art of beekeeping, echo for centuries. Amidst this mix of history and modernity, Sundu stands as a testament to the resilience where the echoes of its ancient past resonate with the vibrant pulse of today.

According to the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 3, 2020, on the occasion of the liberation of our occupied lands as a result of the 44-day military operations of the glorious Azerbaijan Army, November 8 was established as "Victory Day" in the Republic of Azerbaijan. On this occasion, "Victory belongs to Azerbaijan!" expedition was organized and the nameless height at 4301m east of Bazarduzü peak was named "Zafar peak".

We leave Baku for Guba city (3 hours). After making the last purchase, we leave for Khinalig village (2 hours). After reaching the village of Khinalig, we leave for the camp of Bazarduzü peak (1) by mountain vehicles (2 hours). The altitude of the camp is 2900 meters. After completing our final preparations, we leave for the second camp located at an altitude of 3250 meters with our camp luggage (2 hours).
Day 2. (29.06.2024)
At 04:00 in the morning, we start the march to Bazardüzü peak (4466 m). Our way to the summit is 7-8 hours, the descent is 4-5 hours. We go down to the camp and spend the night in tents in the second camp.
Day 3. (30.06.2024)
After breakfast, we collect our tents and start descending to the parking lot at 10:00. We are leaving for the village of Khinalig by mountain cars. We change our cars in Khinalig village and leave for Baku.

Day 2.
At 05:00 in the morning, we get into 4x4 cars and leave for the spring located at the foot of mountain. Our journey by car will last 2 hours. We start climbing Kepaz mountain. Our way to the summit is 3-4 hours. After reaching the summit, a beautiful view of the lakes located in the National Park, the villages of the region and the highest peaks of the Lesser will open around us. After taking pictures of the summit, we descend towards the camp. The descent will last 2 hours. After landing, we drive to the village of . After resting, we head towards Baku.

The summit of the Republic is a peak located in the Gusar region of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in the mountains of the Great Caucasus, at an altitude of 3740 meters above sea level, on the right side of the Tufandag. In May 2018, in connection with the 100th anniversary of our Republic, the summit was named "Summit of the Republic."

✅ Tour program:
Day 1
07: 00- Meeting (Youth m / st Caspian Shopping performance)
07:30 - We are leaving Baku for Guba region.
08: 00-13: 00 - Baku-Guba-Khinalig road
13:00 - Arrive in the village of Khinalig
13: 00-17: 00- Arriving at Shahyaylag camp and setting up tents
17:00- Free time (altitude adaptation race)
22:00- Bedtime

Day 2
04:00- Wake up
05: 00-06: 00-Breakfast
06: 00-15: 30- Camp- Summit of the Republic -Camp
18: 00-22: 00- Khinalig-Guba-Baku

✅ Required Equipment:
Tent 3-4 seasons, sleeping bag, mat, gaiter, backpack (50-60 L), flashlight, waterproof clothing (Gore-tex), warm clothing, mountain shoes, sunglasses, helmet, sunscreen, water (at least 2 liters), personal belongings and hygiene items (socks, thermos, cooking set, napkins, etc.)

We will provide: Tent 3-4 seasons, sleeping bag, mat, helmet

✅ The tour for a group of 14 people costs 180 AZN per person

• Issuance of certificates to the summit participants
• Entrance to the National park
• Organization of camp and trekking plan

• Those in need will be provided with tents, sleeping bags and mats.
• Obtaining permission from the Ministry of Emergency Situations
• Obtaining a permit from the State Border Service

✅ Additional information:
• The group leader has the right to change and cancel the tour program in the face of weather conditions, social events and any negativity.
• ID card is required for registration.
