Identifying what will be a gourmet delight or a poisonous variety needs some very careful thought and practice so this is an opportunity to learn hands-on the finer aspects of the art of foraging. This experience also provides the opportunity to enjoy the sights and scents of the forest, as Bhutan’s botanical wealth is a legend. The wild edible plants and mushroom foraging experience is an immersive and educational activity that introduces participants to the art of foraging for wild mushrooms in the forest.The activity is led by our Sangay Yeshi and an experienced and knowledgeable guide who will teach participants how to identify and safely harvest wild mushrooms/ edible plants. The guide will take the group on a walk through the forest, teaching participants how to identify different types of mushrooms/ edible plants, their habitats and their nutritional and medicinal properties.Participants will learn about the different methods of foraging, including the use of tools and the proper way to harvest them without damaging the ecosystem. Along the way, the guide will point out other edible and medicinal plants and will give tips on how to prepare and store wild mushrooms.
