What is unique about Bhutan?
Bhutan is the world's only 'Carbon Sink' and more than 70% of the country is covered in trees. This large amount of tree cover helps Bhutan absorb more carbon dioxide than it produces. It also offsets its emissions by exporting renewable energy.

Bridges often represent connections, facilitating journeys from one place to another and sometimes marking transitions from old to new. In Bhutan, traditional wooden bridges hold historical, architectural and cultural significance, symbolic of guiding us towards the future while preserving our roots.

Lhabab Duechen, also known as the Descending Day of Lord Buddha, is a sacred day in Bhutan. This auspicious day falls on the 22nd day of the 9th month of the lunar calendar (which in 2023 is the 4th of November) and commemorates a remarkable event in Buddha's life. It marks the day when Lord Buddha descended to this world after teaching in the heavens for three months. Bhutanese observe this day with prayers and offerings, a moment to reflect and renew their spiritual connections.
