AIR BOTSWANA SUSPENDS SECHEDULED OPERATIONS FROM 27 MARCH TO 31 MAY 2020

The national Airline,Air Botswana has suspended scheduled services on it's domestic and regional route network. This is on support of the national call to restrict non- essential travel in efforts to slow- down and arrest the speard of the Covid-19 pandemic. The suspension period is however subject to regular review, given the rapid changes that continue to be experienced by the industry on a daily basis.

Due to the ongoing and fluid nuture of the Covid-19 situation globally, the avenue of postponement for this iconic event to take place in Botswana later in the year is not possible in view of other planned events and the seasonal conditions which resulted in the event to be cancelled.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Every day, COVID-19 seems to reach a new and tragic milestone.

They are 294,110 confirmed cases,12 944 confirmed deaths, 187 countries with cases.Every loss of life is a tragedy. It’s also motivation to double down and do everything we can to stop transmission and save lives.

We also need to celebrate our successes. Yesterday, Wuhan reported no new cases for the first time since the outbreak started.

Wuhan provides hope for the rest of the world, that even the most severe situation can be turned around.

Of course, we must exercise caution – the situation can reverse. But the experience of cities and countries that have pushed back this virus give hope and courage to the rest of the world.

Every day, we are learning more about this virus and the disease it causes.

SA EXPRESS SUSPEND OPERATIONS FROM 18 MARCH 2020 UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Due to recent developments including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, SA Express announces that it will suspend operations from 18 March 2020 until further notice.

All customers will be accommodated on alternative flights. SA Express will provide communication on any additional developments in due course.

AIRLINK MAKES ADDITIONAL SCHEDULE CHANGES IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

Airlink, the south African -based domestic and regional airline is making changes to its flights on certain routes due to newly introduced travel restrictions in order to curb the spread of the COVID-19.

the changes are made automatically in the reservations system, they urge their customers to re check their itineraries. The emergency measures will restrict travel to and from Air link's major overseas source markets resulting in multiple overnight requests for re-booking's and cancellations.

MSC CRUISES STOPS ALL OF ITS SOUTH AFRICAN SHIP OPERATIONS

In light of the extraordinary circumstances the world is currently facing in connection to the COVID-19 and in consultation with all relevant stakeholders and government. MSC cruises has taken the decision to stop all its remaining south African cruise departures for 2019/2020 cruise season ending April 2020. the last cruise departed on 16 march 2020 and will return 20 march 2020.

in regard to this, customers will receive a voucher for the value of their current 2019/2020 cruise package, which they will redeem in the upcoming local cruise season in 2020/2021.

Other incurred expenses such as flights, hotels, transport, they will need to contact their travel insurance company or supplier directly. passengers on the remaining cruises will receive communication in the coming days explaining the voucher.

UK USEFUL INFORMATION


Botswana passport holders do not require a VISA for the UK, however, we are challenged with the general number of customers returned through different airlines.


UK ILO Office based in Johannesburg has since requested that customers be pre-interviewed prior to departure to help on customers being Inadmissible.

There are no official documents required for Botswana passport holders travelling to the UK. However the UK ILO must make sure they are genuine visitors to the UK and that they have the paperwork which shows why they are going to the UK and if they can afford it.

Below are some of the documents that the UK ILO often requests for:

1. Invitation letter from host

2. Release letter from employer/school if student

3. Latest Pay slip & bank statement – 3Months ( both personal and sponsor’s where applicable.

4. Proof of address (sponsor’s or Hotel)

5. Tour Itinerary if Tourist

6. Proof of payments for hotel and activities

7. Minimum daily leaving allowance equivalent of USD100 per day if the absence of a bank statement (Cash on Hand)

About 25 people have died over 800 infected.
