Tips for Traveling to Belize:

Travel Distances in Belize!

Belize may not be a large country, but travel between destinations can take time. For instance, if you're staying in popular spots like San Pedro or Caye Caulker, you'll need to plan transportation carefully:

Water taxis, which stop running at 5PM, are an option, costing $35 US per person. Remember, you'll also need a taxi from the international airport to the water taxi terminal in Belize City, averaging around $40 US for two people.
Alternatively, you can fly with local airlines Maya Island Air or Tropic Air, with fares ranging from $50 to $150 US per person one way.
Travel to southern Belize (e.g., Hopkins, Placencia) involves a 2 ½ to 3-hour drive, costing about $200 US or more for a taxi depending on group size:

If visiting Hopkins, a 15-minute flight to Dangriga costs between $50 and $150 US per person, plus $50 to $75 US for a taxi to Hopkins.
For Placencia, flights average about $50 - $150 US, or many hotels offer airport shuttles from Placencia airport.

Heading to Cayo (San Ignacio) from Belize City is a 1 ½ to 2-hour drive, costing $150 to $200 US for a taxi (for two people). No flights available to Cayo

If you're staying in the Cayes (San Pedro, Caye Caulker) and want to explore mainland attractions like Mayan ruins or zip-lining, plan to take early morning water taxis and keep in mind cost

Consider splitting your stay between the islands and the mainland to maximize your time and ease of access to attractions.

These tips, refined over years of assisting visitors, aim to streamline your Belize travel experience, ensuring more time for enjoyment and less time navigating your way around.
