"Stitches of our Mothers" that is the way our ladies refer to the our tradition embroidery.
Each embroidery has a tale to tell. Did you know that it takes about 10 hours to complete an embroidery.
Each one is carefully counted so that a unique design is made. Maya women sit at their candle light and make each stitch with love. It is made with love because during the process her fingers are pricked thousand times but she still continue. Because in each of her stitches there is a story that is told and she lovingly teach her daughter to keep tradition alive.
Everytime an embroidery is made, she passed on her life story, those of her ancestors and she create her on story picture for the world to see. While doing this it help create a bond with mother and daughter that will survive until the end of time.
