It’s moose season 🫎
In 12 summers guiding up here I have seen a moose in this here pond every year. It’s a great pond
If seeing one of these mystical creatures is in your to do list let us know. We share the same favourite hiding spots.
Just incase there was any doubt. We practice what we preach.
Gear has been tested and approved.
Almost every bit of our guiding gear was in use during our opening week of the summer season. You should have seen how happy all the tents, packs, paddles and canoes were to be back where they belong.
The humans also had a blast.
This is Spring, 🌱
Doing its thing! ☀️
Thank you Spring 🙏
In nature it’s natural to look out for one another

The Kelly Brothers
Check out our new Driftwood Paddle promo video courtesy of the talented Aaron Pullaro Productions. This is a beauty culmination of both of us doing what we do really well- and loving it. Thank you.
As we roll into the long weekend, it gives cause for pause and appreciation. Thank you to everyone who has supported Driftwood and allowed us to walk out our dreams. From trusting us to guide your backcountry adventure, renting a canoe, and even grabbing a hammer to help build Basecamp.
We are over the moon with gratitude for all you legends.
Sometimes, we pinch ourselves “yes, this is our life, this is really working”. We do this because this is what we love.
It was supporters like you reading this, that encouraged the ‘Backcountry Brothers’ to set off on our own, to stop guiding for other companies, and to take a leap- starting our own family business and rooting ourselves in Canada, calling Algonquin our full time home.
Doing it our way- our pace, with our values: integrity, adventure, connection, and community.
Our deep-rooted love for the area goes back to the early years on our parent’s property (Mama Lou & Papa Kelly) on Kawawaymog Lake. Over the years we explored, listened, and discovered many beautiful secrets which have only made us hunger for more.
Algonquin has enough space for adventurous hearts. Making campers of people through experiencing a true Canadian adventure is our life's purpose.
Cheers to you and the many more starry nights, meals cooked over an open campfire, and wildlife sightings to come.
Stay Wild,
The Kelly Brothers
Sound on highly recommended.

The ice has started to break up and head off down stream, returning our front yard back to the liquid paradise we love most. Spring is here in all her beauty. As one season arrives we reflect on the season that it has seamlessly replaced. A growing of awareness, in hopes we appreciate each season a little more the next time around.
“You don’t really appreciate how quiet winter is”
Some of the more active winter creatures are starting to show their furry faces. I've hired this wee Pine Marten to run rodent security under the cabin.
