WHITEWATER REGION RESIDENTS, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Whitewater Ontario has submitted a proposal to Whitewater Region to develop an existing road allowance to create a public access point to the river. The goal is to ensure that our community has long-term access to the whitewater (Rocher Fendu) section of the river that is independent of private landowners. We need Whitewater Region residents to show council how important this issue is to our community. Residents, please contact council members to show your support for the Whitewater Ontario Proposal.
It would be a shame to miss the opportunity to have a non-profit organization create and fund public access to our region's most precious and famous asset: the whitewater section of the Ottawa River.
SAMPLE EMAIL/LETTER
Dear ___[Councillor's Name]_______,
As a resident of Whitewater Region, I am writing to express my support for Whitewater Ontario’s proposed plan to build an access point to the river on the McCoy Rd road allowance.
Creating a public access point that is independent of private landowners will open the river to a broad spectrum of underserved recreational users, including myself, friends, and family for ____[activities of interest, e.g., kayaking, SUP, river boarding, inflatable kayaks, rafts, fishing, hunting, hiking….]______. Their plan will remove the burden from private companies to provide much needed long-term public access to the world-famous Rocher Fendu rapids while also supporting recreation, tourism, and economic growth in our region.
I strongly encourage you to support Whitewater Ontario’s proposal for a land-use agreement.
It would be a shame to miss the opportunity to have a non-profit organization create and fund public access to our region's most precious and famous asset: the whitewater section of the Ottawa River.
After all, we are called Whitewater Region and long-term public access should exist for our residents and future generations.
Sincerely,
