Such an awesome day out! Had a 8hr today and we had a salmon bite every 3-5mins the entire charter. Whales jumping all around, loaded Prawn traps and a Crab trap pretty full but with mostly females.
My next availability is Wednesday and Thursday, the weather is looking great. We are booked 10-13th.

New opportunity: Chums open tomorrow and it's a good thing we have been seeing many out there! I have availability Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Bit of a day, I woke up with a stomach bug this morning so called in Chris for the charter. It's great to have such a good support system in town. He took the boat and the outcome picture does no justice of the experience had today. They got out to an amazing amount of Humpback and Orca whales playing and hunting all morning. Lots of action for salmon just couldn't find the appropriate keepers, got a Prawn cocktail at a new spot and found some Crab.
Sometimes it's key to remember it's also about the experience and core memories that are made out here in this beautiful place.
10/02/2024
Pretty good day out, many salmon just had to work at finding out keepers. First prawn of the season went well and the Crab trap was plugged with Red Rocks, dang. Saw lots of Humpback and Orca whales.

October 1st we delayed this morning for weather and it paid off! Next availability October 6th!

Definitely felt like fall out there today but the ocean was alive. A huge krill hatch attracted countless whales and sea birds. The Cohos were the star of the keepers today. Today was also the last day for the multiple boat operation as we now switch to our winter operation of 1 boat.
Thank you Graham for all your hard work day in and day out this Summer. We had many many happy customers along with numerous 5 star reviews. Looking forward to many more years to come.

Such a beautiful day for the end of September. The fishing was decent, the company was good and the weather was perfect! Who's ready to get some Prawn and Crabs next month.

Shout out to
Follow up to my first post. Never fails, it's a long weekend and we're fully book. As I mentioned we ran into some motor troubles on one of the main engines on the way in today. It was coding over heating but was actually running fine. But the computer wouldn't let it operate. I did all the regular checks. Made a call for consulting and the signs weren't pointing to easy on water fix. Once I made it in I checked a few more things I know to look at. Seems it might have been a thermostat. I called none other then the Dingy Dan from parkers and he was at the shop with in 15 mins to get one for me. I went to get it and re installed the new one, tested it and seem to have solved the problem 🤞.
Moral of the story, it pays to shop local and support your local businesses. Because when your down and out they are there to support you back.

One of today's charters I was hosting .salon girls winners one of our Yana donations. We had a great time surrounded by jumping whales, happy seals and lots of Salmon. Conditions were a bit breezy and cold but me made the best of it! We had to deal with a minor engine issue on the way in...exploitation in following post. Graham did well with his guys visiting from out East.

Beauty day after the storm last night. A great way to celebrate an 80...something birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉
09/25/2024
Well it was a soaker out there today and we tuffed it out. Fishing was pretty good for the conditions and we kept these two. Looks like we need to batten down then hatches tomorrow for the first storm of the Fall.
09/24/2024
Had a good day with the guys from Mcasphalt today. After missing out on yesterday we had a calm foggy day today. Everyone had many bites we just had to work hard to grind a few keepers.

Windy cancellation day explained:
Today I had to make a tuff call again and I thought I would share our side of the call. As we get into the fall some of these calls will be made. I had a group of guests that booked 3 boats for today and tomorrow traveled here to come out with us. I saw this weather coming in for days, in the week leading up to today it was one day nice one day storm and so onand kept swapping. I went to sleep last night with one forcast looking ok the other not good. I wake up at 445am to check and it's that same forcast which doesn't look terrible but the kicker is our south indicator bouy is twice as windy as predicted and a major no go. But in town still doesn't seem bad, so I start driving around looking at the beaches at 6am until 7. Again all with borderline results, but again the kicker is that south bouy is still up. We met with the guys at the dock and explained the situation and unfortunately called it off. Behind the scenes and in my head it's a stressful call, you have the crew that flew in, it's flat calm in the bay and at the dock but your calling it off...? We also don't go out just to get paid, and we also miss out on today's pay. But even though we cancelled it sticks with me, did I make the right call, what if it came down, but what if it came up? So I continue to drive the beaches, stare at my phone and consult with people about it. Man it still doesn't seem that bad but it's also not great. The thing is if it came up just a bit it would be really nasty. Moral of the story is we're not happy about making these calls, but we look at the forcast and take our many years of experience into account and providing a safe and enjoyable experience. These aren't easy calls to make on days like this, but they are the responsible ones. Luckily we have a great forcast for tomorrow and will totally make up for it.

We got out for a few hours before that weather came up. Completed the goal of getting our 3 Ling Cods.

Today was an awesome day, the forcast turned back around and the fishin was hot. We got in in time to attend the Pacific Salmon Foundation Dinner tonight. Thanks for inviting Kim and I
09/21/2024
Taking advantage of the last 10 days of Ling Cod fishing and they are chomping! We had to go hide from the wind this morning, although the salmon fishing was busy we didn't find to many keepers. 10 days till Prawn and Crab season starts.
09/19/2024
An awesome mid day 5hr today, conditions were perfect and the action was pretty non stop. Some really nice fall Cohos around right now and feeder Chinooks.
The next availability we have is September 29th then October 5th. October is also starting to get busy if your planning on Visiting our area. It's best to book a date earlier then later then if we need to adjust it for weather we have some flexibility.
09/18/2024
Was a beautiful day out, we took advantage of the mid day tide today and it paid off. Once they started to bite it was really good. We easily got all of our wild Coho and tried to find some hatchery and keeper Chinooks all while watching the Orca whales. Pretty nice for September!
09/17/2024
Such a beautiful morning, seriously one of the top 5 views of my life this morning. We got the morning in before the wind came up. Our crew completed the goal and got our Lings, Graham went and found a few keeper Chinooks. Lots of small Salmon around to keep the action up while you look for keepers.
09/16/2024
2 8hr charters out today. Found some ling cod early and then worked on salmon. It was a bit of a grind, tried a few spots and feel they have left our zone we have fished for the last 4
50 days. Time to go find em, it's when this career turns into work 😆
09/15/2024
And just like that we're back on em, little high pressure change and the bait, animals and fish were back. Graham stuck and stayed to make it pay and got into steady action for Chinooks. I looked around and found coho and put the time in for Lings and they were chomping today.
09/15/2024
What a doozey today, it's like we had Friday the 13th on the 14th. Had to delay this morning due to the forecast being off. Got out and the bait was gone and fishing was tuff. We looked around, experienced Cannon ball losing, tangling, broken rods and more. Crazy! At least yoy can trust we are always honest.
09/14/2024
Had a busy day today, 5 boats out this morning and for the most part fishing was pretty good. Again lots of fish and have to make your keeper bites count. The wind came up this afternoon, Graham tuffed it out in the pm in some pretty tuff conditions for the guys. The were catching fish every 10 mins but didn't have much luck with keepers unfortunately. Looking forward for a better forcast tomorrow.
09/13/2024
We had a very yoyo of a day, we were catch and releasing on my boat today and the first pass was key. We had 3 nice mature Chinooks and some Coho. Then as the tide and wind kicked up the fishing slowed down. The pm charters did better on the tide change and the wind came down. Tons of action just got to find some keeper sized fish out of the mix.
Closing remarks; lucky to still have some mature Chinooks around this late in the season, make your big bites count, seasonal change happening - time to focus on feeder Chinooks and local Coho.
09/11/2024
Still a few mature fish around waiting for some rain to head up river. Fishing was decent today considering we had Orcas around for a good part of it.

Hey, you might have been following or heard I have been working on a small documentary this Winter. Professional filmmaker Marc Noel approached me with a passion project to film a documentary about my story of becoming a fisherman. His timing was perfect after wrapping up a summer season and the project evolved into so much more.
I recently became the Chair for the Local Sport Fishing Advisory Committee Area 14, heavily involved in data and science collection in the marine environment, and fully committed year round to my sport fishing charter business. I took this chance to ask Marc if he would want to take this further and highlight the issues someone like me and fellow sport fishermen have encountered over the last few years.
I invite you to please watch this 13 minute film. It covers all aspects of who and what we are as sport fishermen.
Highlights:
Young Steve was brought up in a fishing family.
The start of Island Pursuit Sport Fishing.
The introduction of Chinook “stock of concern.”
The social and economic effects.
The commitment to DNA data and our volunteer science.
The volunteers that are the boots on the ground for our salmon enhancement.
I feel this film perfectly showcases our story and will be a good avenue to get our side out to the public as a visual story.

We got fresh new motors on Capt. Chris's boat this year. Like year we called in the engine break it Captain. Pretty soon I'll be able to sit back and get taken out by this cute little trainee.
Now that I'm getting some days off I can keep up with training the next generation. Had my youngest Emerik out with me the other day and he loves driving. #teachemyoung #nextgeneration
