These are some pictures we took of a trap feeding humpback whale. Trap feeding is a very specialized form of feeding only practised by a few individuals and only in our area. The humpbacks wade at the surface, directing fish into their mouths with their pectoral fins and when they feel its the right time, they surge upward and gulp the small fish trapped in their huge mouths. Its very exciting to experience live.

Pacific White Sided Dolphins are fairly common in the the waters around the Orca Dreams Camp. They can be seen traveling at high speed from one place to another sometimes stopping to feed on schooling fish. They are very fun to watch!

We caught this rare image of an orca rubbing on one of the beaches on the Vancouver Island shoreline. It is a cultural behaviour where northern resident orcas approach these beaches at high speed, emptying their lungs of air before descending to the bottom to rub their bodies on the steep stone beaches.

Watching orcas from a kayak is one of the most amazing experiences. We do not always get to see Orcas from our kayaks, but when we do its a life changing experience.
