Regular programming ended last week and we’re using the August break to catch up on much needed maintenance and extra chores. Keeping the ponies happy and healthy while gearing up for the Fall session. We hope you are enjoying your summer holidays!🌞

At the end of a vaulting lesson with Smokey, each vaulter thinks of something nice to say to him, to thank him for his time and participation. The vaulters get to practice gratitude and the important social skill of giving meaningful compliments, and Smokey gets to feel proud, respected and loved.

☀️☀️UPDATE: We are canceling Tuesday and Wednesday as well (Thursday is a holiday), and are hoping to resume on Friday July 2nd. Stay cool everyone! 😎☀️☀️
☀️CTRA will be closed Monday June 28th due to the extreme heat. Stay home and stay safe everyone!☀️
Our dedicated barn staff are doing everything they can to keep our herd comfortable, including turning out late at night and bringing horses in first thing in the morning, shade covers on the windows, wetting down hay, closely monitoring water and electrolyte intake, providing frozen “horse-sicles”, and spraying down the horses and barn with cold water. We are lucky that one side of our barn sits below ground level, which helps to keep it cool. 
Horses have a harder time dealing with heat than humans, and with most of our herd being in their golden years, they are even more susceptible to heat exhaustion. Thank you to our amazing staff for helping to keep our four-legged coworkers safe during this record-setting weather!
