SO incredibly honoured to have had Saltwater Sean & Ashley George Photographer stay this weekend !!! Was lucky enough to get the chance to meet him in person! He is such an amazingly kind, genuine and down to earth human being doing incredible things for our Nova Scotia waters and the environment ! I had a great time exploring the coast of south west Cape Breton today. River Bourgeois ended up being the place I found the most things in the water and while I checked out the canal in St. Peter’s, I didn’t find much at all, and instead was impressed by the cleanliness of the ocean 🤿😊

𝙃𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙮 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝘿𝙖𝙮 !! 🌎💚

To cherish the earths waters this Earth Day I wanted to showcase our beautiful water cascade captured by Shane Wilkie along with his wife Alysha! It is located on our property and has its own private hiking trail leading there for our guests to use! 🥾🌲 It’s about a 40 minute walk each way! The winter was pretty rough on the trail with many fallen trees but it is now ready and cleared again for the season for all guests to enjoy! It is an absolutely beautiful trail with some spots almost fairytale like as you’re walking through! If you’re staying 2+ nights I definitely recommend taking advantage of this unique experience that we have to offer! 😊

Where did the name “Beechwood Nature Stays” come from ?! ☺️

It actually took quite a few months to try and come up with a name that was unique / authentic to me and what my vision was!

Im sure many of you might have seen & noticed the beautiful centrepiece in the cottage … the heart of it all if you will ! 🤍
A large & beautiful tree serving as a bit of a support system for the half wall that I wanted to have in the open concept room. That large tree is actually a Beechwood Tree ! My dad has had it stored in his wood working shop for many many years! It was a piece he collected in Guysbourgh, Nova Scotia. Beechwood is a very unique tree, very dense and actually extremely hard to work with.

My dad asked me if I wanted to put the Beechwood Tree in the cottage and i knew immediately that it would be a very unique & beautiful feature 😍 It is most definitely one of my most favourite things in the cottage ! He always has the best artistic ideas that he comes up with. The dining table was also completely hand and custom made by my dad and he also incorporated a piece of Beechwood in that as well.

So the word “Beechwood” has quite a bigger meaning then most probably thought ☺️ Its a true representation of family, extremely hard work, creativity, nature, uniqueness and coming together. It is the true heart of the cottage where people come to gather, to completely let go of all the craziness in life, to just simply let go and relax ! 🤍

The “Nature Stays” comes from .. well because the cottage sits beautifully among all the trees next to a spectacular lake away from it all! 😌

Everything in the cottage and the property was thought about very meticulously with an immense amount of love and thought put into it all! Im so happy I get to share it with all of you and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do when I walk in there every morning to get everything ready for the next lovely guests 🤍
