I also hope they took my suggestion and sat on the beach and enjoyed the sunset 🌅 at Pleasant Bay Harbour Beach.

We're thrilled to not only have Cape Smokey back on board for another year, but also take on such a jam-packed week of music - two shows on the same day even! Make plans to head to the lodge, A.K.A The Blue Moose! The name comes from the giant wooden blue moose created by Smokey's Gondola Chief, Tony Williams. It hangs above the bar, hence the name. Happy National Tartan Day! Have you ever seen Cape Breton's designated tartan? Created in 1957 by Elizabeth Grant and inspired by Lillian Crew’s poem, the colours of green, yellow, grey, and black were chosen with special meaning.

"The Lady of the Loom" by Lillian Crewe Walsh
A lady sat beside her loom, with yarns of every hue.
To weave Cape Breton tartan, she only chose a few.
Black for the wealth of our coal mines, grey for our Cape Breton steel.
Green for our lofty mountains, our valleys and our fields.
Gold for the golden sunsets shining bright on the lakes of Bras d’Or.
To show God’s hand hath lingered, to bless Cape Breton’s shores.
As she watched the pattern grow, then she could understand.
Her shuttle had been guided, by the master weaver’s hand.
