In an attempt to limit the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), most governments have implemented special entry and exit restrictions for their territory. Before travelling, verify if the local authorities of both your current location and destinations have implemented any specific restrictions related to this situation. Consider even your transit points.

Restrictions imposed could include:

• Entry bans, particularly for non-residents

• Exit bans

• Quarantines of 14 days or more upon arrival, regardless of where you are arriving from

• Health screenings

• Border closures

• Airport closures

• Flight suspensions to/from certain destinations, and in some cases, all destinations

• Suspensions or reductions of other international transportation options



Additional restrictions can be imposed suddenly. Airlines can also suspend or reduce flights without notice. Your travel plans may be severely disrupted, making it difficult for you to return home. You should not depend on the Government of Canada for assistance related to changes to your travel plans.

• Monitor the media for the latest information

• Contact your airline or tour operator to determine if the situation will disrupt your travel plans

• Contact the nearest foreign diplomatic office for information on destination-specific restrictions

GLOBAL TRAVEL ADVISORY

On March 13th, 2020, the Government of Canada has issued a Global Travel Advisory advising Canadians to avoid non-essential travel outside of Canada until further notice. If you are currently outside of Canada:

• Find out what commercial options are still available to return to Canada. Consider returning to Canada earlier than planned if these options are becoming more limited.

• Ensure that you have sufficient finances and necessities, including medication, in case your travels are disrupted.

This advisory overrides all other risk levels, with the exception of areas for which we advise to avoid all travel (including regional advisories). The avoid all travel advisories remain valid.



TRAVEL HEALTH ADVICE

You should continue to consult the latest travel advice related to COVID-19 from the Government of Canada at: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/latest-travel-health-advice.html.

The Public Health Agency of Canada is closely monitoring the situation, and Global Affairs Canada will provide updates as more information becomes available. Canadians should follow the advice of local health authorities and take precautions to protect themselves from respiratory illnesses, including frequent handwashing, practising proper cough and sneeze etiquette, and monitoring your health.

General recommendations for travellers:



Spending time in large groups or crowded areas can increase your risk of getting sick. Travellers should take precautions against respiratory and other illnesses while travelling, and seek medical attention if they become sick.



Travellers are reminded to follow usual health precautions:



Wash your hands:

• Wash your hands often with soap under warm running water for at least 20 seconds.

• Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer only if soap and water are not available. It is a good idea to always keep some with you when you travel.



Practise proper etiquette while coughing and sneezing:

• Cover your mouth and nose with your arm to reduce the spread of germs.

• If you use a tissue, dispose of it as soon as possible and wash your hands afterward.



Monitor your health:

• If you become sick when you are travelling or after your return, avoid contact with others, except to see a health care professional. When you see a health care professional, tell them:

• your symptoms

• where you have been travelling or living

• whether you have had direct contact with animals (for example, while visiting a live animal market) or close contact with a sick person



If you feel sick during your flight to Canada or upon arrival, inform the flight attendant or a Canada Border Services Officer.

UPDATE 4: March 16, 2020 - COVID-19

Effective Today- Following Procedures:
Due to the evolution of the situation regarding COVID-19, and for all TAP 047 tickets issued until March 7, 2020*- Valid for all destinations operated by TAP Air Portugal.

Tickets issued on or before March 7, 2020*
*Except to/from USA where it applies to tickets issued up to March 12, 2020
Tickets with original travel date until May 31, 2020
Waiver of change fee permitted under the following Conditions:
Flights to/from USA- to/from ITALY- to/from ISRAEL- to/from NORWAY- to/from MOROCCO- to/from POLAND- to/from SPAIN- to/from AZORES- to/from MADEIRA, **and any destination defined by the authorities (ex. Italy to Angola):
Permitted to reschedule;
New travel to depart until December 31, 2020, or up to 12 months from the original ticket issue date, whichever is earlier;
Fare difference (fare, fuel surcharge, airport taxes) if any, applies;
