Nothing says fall fun more than Morningstar Farm and Little Qualicum Cheeseworks just up the road from Oceanside Escapes. Farm fresh eggs, cheese galore and bouquets of flowers for $12!! We try to load up on island delights for both the quality and pricing. And the animals are the cutest too!

While the days may be getting shorter, there is still plenty of warmth and light in the Parksville region. An early morning walk in Rathtrevor Provincial Park is a great way to start the day and provides many magical moments to capture. Great dates available through the fall. Despite visiting this region for 20 years, new adventures abound with each visit. This week, we explored the trail system adjacent to Top Bridge Trail heading north west. We did close to 10 km one way and then was picked up for some lovely lunch. Truly a walkers paradise!

Our new favourite place might be CAFE 356 in French Creek. Just two months old, this incredible delicious and value for money local spot will fuel you as you have your island adventure. We had the cheeseburger soup and had to ask for a to go container! Café 356

Another fun find on the island is the charming and delicious Milton Pub in Nanaimo. From the front you would think it is a house. Lunch specials always sell out so go early! This won’t disappoint! Please note for our pet loving friends, this is not a pet friendly property, including the patio!

It’s harvest time at Zanatta! Our wonderful long term providers of our “house white”, Zanatta, located in Duncan, is an easy drive from the cabin. Open Wednesdays through Sundays during the summer and by appointment on the off season. Be sure to save some time for island wine tasting! And ask for Jim, the owner and wine maker himself!
