Northern tip of Vancouver Island and is the gateway to
an authentic, unspoiled, nature-driven adventure. Located within the traditional territory of the Kwakiutl
First Nation and home to two neighbouring First Nations

along our sandy beaches, paddle along the rocky
shores of neighbouring islands or get to know the

07/10/2024

Effective at 12 p.m. (noon) PDT on Friday, July 12, 2024, campfires will be prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre. This prohibition is being enacted to help prevent human caused wildfires and protect public safety.

To report a wildfire, call 1 800 663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cell phone. For the latest information on current wildfire activity, burning restrictions, road closures and air quality advisories, go to: http://www.bcwildfire.ca

With the increased risk of new wildfire starts from current and forecast weather conditions, a province-wide campfire prohibition will take effect at 12 p.m. (noon) PDT on Friday, July 12, 2024, with the exception of Haida Gwaii Forest District.

These prohibitions are being enacted to help prevent human-caused wildfires and to protect public safety. The process for deciding whether to implement a campfire prohibition is complex and may differ from one part of the province to another, depending on local conditions. To learn more about what goes into a campfire prohibition watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qMbj5MGQQY&t=28s

We would like to thank everyone for being responsible with any activity that could potentially spark a new wildfire, and for their vigilance in reporting new wildfire starts, unattended campfires or open burning violations.

To stay up to date on fire bans and restrictions in your area, please visit: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/prevention/fire-bans-and-restrictions
