Colchester CO: Rte 311 will be closed to through traffic in Earltown between civic 4945 and Kemptown Rd from Sept 23rd to Oct 11th. The closure is necessary to replace a cross culvert. A signed detour will be in place via trunk 4 (Pictou Rd)-Old Trunk 4 Loop-Kemptown Rd.

The Tidal Bores have been quite spectacular the last few days and today should be just as grand...why not come out to see it in person for 3:11 pm this afternoon? (Be here about 20 minutes early just to make sure you don't miss it in all it's spendor cause she's coming in fast)

Join us for an evening lecture tomorrow Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7pm as photographer and storyteller Louise Trotter shares details of her modern-day adventure in the path of Upper Stewiacke’s Karl Creelman. In 1902, Creelman became the first Canadian to bike around the world.

Trotter spent five years researching Karl’s journey and started her trek in progress in 2020. Their respective journeys have been impacted by national borders, politics, wars, disease, pandemics and infrastructure of different scales and significance over 100 years.

Admission is by donation or free to CHS members.

Hike Nova Scotia and 19 host organizations offer the 2024 Fall Guided Hike & Walk Series across NS. There are 50 events led by local folks and participants qualify to win trail prizes. They are free or low-cost events and some require pre-registration. Hike NS thanks its partners on the ground for organizing the events as well as Goose Lane Editions, MEC and the Nova Scotia Government Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage for their support.

This was last evenings Bore at 11:30 pm (Many thanks to Nova Scotia Webcams) Today's will be even higher and is predicted for 12:03 pm (be here for 11:30am to make sure you don't miss it - it's been arriving a little early the last few days!!)

Cobequid Trail - Notice of Temporary Trail Closures

Cobequid Bay Lookoff - Update

Beginning September 10th until approximately September 13th, the rail trail at the Lookoff will be closed in both directions for construction at the large culvert. The Lookoff trailhead, lookoff d**e trail, and rail trail eastbound will remain open.

Farnham Brook Trail

Beginning September 9th until approximately the end of September, access to Farnham Brook Trail from Hillvale Drive in Valley will be closed while NS Public Works replaces a large culvert on Hillvale Drive. Farnham Brook Trail access at Village Court will remain open.

Salmon River Bridge, HWY-102 northbound between exits 14 and 14A, in Truro will be reduced to one lane for bridge work starting Tuesday, September 3rd. This lane will be closed 24 hours a day. The expected completion date is October 29th.
Traffic control and signage will be on site.

Did you know Jackie Putnam just received the award for "International Female Album of the Year "The Phoenix" Bronze 2024" from the International Singer Songwriters Association. She'll be putting on a great show in the amphtheatre tomorrow 6-8. Added bonus the bore will be coming in at 7:30. This is our last Tidal Tunes Tuesday so come on down.
