Your guide will welcome you aboard as you head out on this sightseeing excursion to see two of Vancouver's best attractions, Gouse Mountain and the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. This tour is all about adventure, as you take in the natural wonders surrounding Vancouver. Begin with a traverse through the green urban oasis of Stanley Park, and across the historic Lions Gate Bridge to Vancouver's North Shore. At Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, stand above an old growth cedar forest and the Capilano River. The first bridge was built in 1889 by George Mackay. The modern version is 450 feet long (137 meters) and spans 230 feet above the river (70 meters). Capilano means "beautiful river" in native Squamish language...and that it is! Experience the awe of natural surroundings, view First Nations artwork, and feel the rush of adrenaline at the Cliffwalk attraction. This is an unusual cantilevered walkway handing from the side of a granite cliff. The Treetops Adventure walk showcases the beauty and diversity of the Capilano coastal rainforest with 7 suspension bridges that take you up into the treetops. Continue to the Capilano River Hatchery, a project dedicated to several species of BC salmon and trout. Learn about the life cycle of salmon, with opportunity to view hatching and juvenile fish before they are released into a nearby river. Make sure you bring your camera to capture all of the beauty. Located just 15 minutes from Vancouver, Grouse Mountain towers over the city at 4,100 feet (1250 meters). The views from the top are amazing as the city stretches out below. Included in your excursion is a ride on the Skyride up to the peak. Enjoy the 8 minute gondola ride and the views from the car. Explore the wilderness sanctuary where you can see endangered animals at The Refuge for Endangered Wildlife. This is a research, education, and conservation center at the top of Grouse Mountain. They are dedicated to protecting both flora and fauna at risk and at the Refuge they make learning about nature fun and fascinating. See the mountaintop habitat that is home to two orphaned grizzly bears, Grinder and Coola, but also includes other habitats on the peak. There is a display of awesome chainsaw carvings and learn about the local wildlife at the Theater in the Sky, an educational learning center. Be amazed and enchanted by the forests and mountains surrounding Vancouver on this memorable excursion. At the end of your excursion, your transportation will either take you back to your cruise ship pier, hotel or make a drop off at the airport if your cruise is over and you are heading home.
