We are so very proud to share we were the recipient of the 2024 Ecostar Awards Sustainable Workplace Award! πŸ’š

This award honours an organization with impressive environmental practices and social policies in place to create a work culture centred around sustainability and well-being. We are dedicated to sustainability on and off the water. In their office, we apply green lens to their operations through our Sustainability Policy and Sustainable Purchasing Policy that addresses diverse aspects ranging from water- and energy-saving equipment to retail purchases and low-emission staff commuting. On the water, we offer Zero Waste catamaran tours that feature compostable and recycling options and unpackaged foods and we are in the process of installing toroidal propellors that enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. Thank you Synergy Foundation and Monk Office for selecting us for this award!

This award not only celebrates our achievements but also pushes us towards continuing our sustainable efforts in the years to come!β™»οΈπŸŒ

We can't believe we still have Humpbacks around!

Humpback whales might overwinter in one location, such as the Salish Sea, instead of migrating due to abundant food, which reduces the need for energy-intensive travel. Climate changes and shifting habitats can make some areas more favourable year-round, especially for older, injured, or young whales that benefit from conserving energy. For nursing mothers, staying in a food-rich area helps calves grow stronger without the strain of migration. Over time, some populations may even adapt to remain in suitable habitats year-round if conditions are consistently favourable.
