Since the Fall of 2014, Lifty Life has been providing unique and affordable short-term accommodations. Our first property was located a world-class four-seasons resort just two hours from Vancouver, BC. Whistler, BC has been ranked as the #1 Ski Resort in North America for over a decade and was the host of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
Many years later we have now grown into a boutique full-service short-term rental management company with a laser-focused mission of operating the top Airbnb/ VRBO/ HomeAway properties in the Fraser Valley. Conventional management companies are outdated, inefficient, and very self-serving - Lifty Life was founded to disrupt the conventional. Our team promises to provide unique and affordable experiences for guests and an enhanced revenue-generating business for it’s property owners.
In the early days of Lifty Life we discovered all property management companies provided subpar service while demanding commission fee’s as high as 40+% from the home owners. The system was broken and in huge favor of the property management firm so we decided we would self-manage. Our property quickly out-performed the competition and offered a much greater experience. Who would have thought, two inexperienced kids (20-22) could out compete firms with decades of experience and deep, deep pockets? We realized the industry was changing at a rapid pace and the days of conventional property management were numbered.
Property #2 was in Harrison Hot Springs, BC. In early 2017 the news hit and Harrison Hot Springs had banned short-term rentals being advertised on sites like Airbnb and VRBO. We looked further into the zoning and legality and determined the news was wrong. Airbnb & VRBO were only banned in residential zoned areas (something we actually support), but that left almost all of the commercially zoned properties to be be allowed. We quickly swooped in at the end of 2017 and acquired one of the first legally-zoned and approved short-term rentals.
Lifty Life was pioneering the way Harrison Hot Springs viewed short-term rentals and now many other home-owners have followed in our foot-steps. This property confirmed to us the importance of understanding zoning and bylaws; something most people have no interest in learning.
Over the years we have experienced virtually every change in the short-term market. From zoning changes, increased competition, taxes, legality, and even insurance we have seen it all. The Airbnb world is not as simple as it once was and it will only continue to become more complicated, but we have the experience needed to successfully navigate through. The primary Host, Keiran, has extensive experience in the hospitality industry and now works with the top digital marketing firm in Canada. With a deep understanding in online marketing it is no surprise he is able to produce above-average results. Our listing & revenue manager, Connor, works within the industry for one of Canada’s largest online travel agencies (OTA) as a preferred partner with Airbnb. He manages the listings and revenue of tens of thousands of properties each month. Nathan has over a decade of experience in operations, sales, and marketing within the hospitality industry. He spearheads the day-to-day operations of Lifty Life.
As individuals, we believe in ensuring every guest is 100% satisfied with their stay and for that reason we are very selective with which properties we will manage. Each property we manage has undergone extensive evaluations and qualifying stages to ensure that they are safe, clean, insured, and legal. Failure to comply with any of the four stages the property will be disqualified from our platform until changes have been made.
