Our Cultural Guides were busy making maple syrup over the last couple of weeks preparing for our culinary programs. Quick fact. Did you know in the mid 1800's Wiikwemkoong members were trading more than 400k lbs of maple syrup? Amazing!

The Unceded Journey is one of Wikwemikong Tourism’s most popular Experiences. A transformational tour into the true history of Manitoulin Island, visitors often share how deeply moved they are by their journey with our local Anishinaabe Cultural Guides.
This unique learning experience represents the power of Indigenous Tourism as a strong force for reconciliation. Schools, special interest groups and corporations can embark on a journey that takes you beyond land acknowledgements to a place of understanding.
An awakening like no other, the Unceded Journey includes a visit to Northern Ontario’s oldest catholic church including stops at historic sites to learn about important treaty relationships. Come explore how Wiikwemkoong became one of Canada’s only officially recognized Unceded Territories.
Join us, and be forever changed. 🔗 You can find out more information by going to the Daily Cultural Experiences page on our website https://wikytours.com/daily-cultural-experiences/

🌱 Clay Baked Georgian Bay Trout & Tea
🌱 Cedar Plank Georgian Bay Trout & Tea
🌱 Stone Cooked Venison & Tea
Your meals are prepared over the open fire at our newly constructed Outdoor Culinary Space, by the shore, at the foot of the Bebamikawe Memorial Trail. Together you hike the Trail with your Indigenous Cultural Guide foraging for some of the natural ingredients we’ll use in your meal. As we walk, you will hear our stories & history, and learn about our uses for many of the forest’s plants. When we return to the outdoor kitchen, our guides prepare your meal, using pre-colonial, Anishinaabe traditional cooking methods.
You also get a hands-on experience as you help with some of the preparations!
