I have a bit of a controversial take on luxury travel.

I’m a pretty big believer that luxury travel isn’t always 5-star resorts and first-class tickets (although both of those are nice!😉).

Luxury can be as simple as having someone else plan and book all the details for your trip so there’s no stress on your shoulders.

Luxury can be an itinerary tailored perfectly to you, without you having to lift one finger.

Luxury can be as simple as seamless logistics, where all the details are planned and organized for you in advance, so that you’re not spending precious vacation time making arrangements in destination.

Just know that whether your idea of the perfect vacation is a 5-star resort and a luxury cruise, or if it’s all of the things I listed above, I’m a DM or email away and ready to assist!

Whether you’re road-tripping through the US this summer or exploring the Côte d‘Azur, here are my top tips for making the most of Google Maps when you travel 🔎

➡️ Save Offline Maps: Before you go, download maps for your destination by tapping the location, choosing "Download," and voilà! You can now navigate without the internet.

➡️ Explore with Street View: Here‘s a cool trick! Drop the adorable yellow peg man on the map and virtually stroll through the streets. It‘s like being there already. Do this around your hotel to get familiar with nearby places.

➡️ Discover Nearby Places: This is one of my favorites! Use the "Explore" feature to find attractions, restaurants, bars, parks, you name it, all in your vicinity. It‘s like having a local guide right in your pocket!

Do you know what’s awesome? When your hard work finally comes to fruition!

My clients recently went off on an Alaska cruise, and came back raving about the vacation we had worked together to plan.

Here’s the highlights!

♿️ VIP treatment at embarkation with pre-arranged wheelchair and escorted service for a traveller with mobility challenges. They fast-tracked through the check-in process, straight to their balcony room.

🌅 Perfect cabin location (selected by yours truly) providing great views and easy access to ship amenities.

🐳 A whale watching excursion with a guest appearance of Orca’s.

🏔️ A visit to a spectacular glacier, complete with a memorable salmon bake in the wilderness at the end of the day.

Everything was so perfect we are already planning their next cruise! 🚢

Pesky summer travel hiccups + what to do about them

➡️ Seat Swap Surprises

So, you’ve checked in online and picked your seats, but then you get to the airport and... surprise! They’ve changed.

What to Do: Head straight to the gate desk (not the ticketing counter). Gate agents are your best friends here—they can help fix the seating situation or find someone willing to switch seats.

➡️ Lost or Delayed Luggage

Your bags are MIA

What to do: Find the airline’s baggage desk near the baggage claim area and file a claim before you leave the airport. If you can’t locate the desk, call the airline ASAP to report your missing luggage.

Hang on to those receipts for any essentials you need to buy—just keep it reasonable (no designer splurges, unfortunately). Then, when you’re back, file a claim with your travel insurance.

➡️ Delayed and cancelled flights 🇨🇦

What to do: Contact the airline to understand your options - rebooking or receive a refund. Under the Canadian Air Passenger Protection Regulations, you may be entitled to compensation. Keep all receipts of expenses incurred due to the delay. Most importantly, stay informed through the airline's app or website, and ALWAYS sign up for alerts to get real-time updates on your flight status.

➡️ Not Loving Your Hotel Room

Your room’s not up to par? Here’s how to get it sorted

What to do: Ask for the manager. Call from your room or go to the front desk and ask to speak to a manager. Be specific about the issues and honest about what resolution you’re seeking.

➡️ Rental Car Issues

What to do: If your rental car isn’t what you expected, contact the rental company’s customer service. They might be able to upgrade or switch your vehicle. Always check the car for damage before driving off the lot and report any issues immediately.

I hope you don‘t encounter any of these hiccups this summer, but if you do, use this as your quickstart guide to problem-solving. Enjoy these blissful summer days!

👉 Did I check for the best possible routes and airlines my clients are loyalty members of? (Gotta build those points where possible!)

👉 Is the hotel or resort in a location that makes sense for the type of trip?

👉 Are there special dietary needs to consider?

👉 Is the itinerary designed to hit the things that are most important?

👉 Are tours and experiences booked?

👉 Is there transportation to and from the airport and all of the places in between?

Y’all, it’s a whole lot to juggle.

🎵 Head over to The Forks for a full day of festivities. 🎈 The fun starts with family-friendly music and activities. The evening features concerts with local artists. 🏀 Basketball Manitoba and the Winnipeg Sea Bears will be there with a youth championship game, a shooting competition, a wheelchair b-ball demo, a slam dunk contest and more. The skateboard park will be hosting lessons, open sessions, and a best trick contest. Check out their page for updated rain locations ☔️

🎤 Or how about spending the day at the Blue Bombers Princess Auto Stadium for a free event featuring Sam Roberts Band! The event starts at noon, with food trucks, local music acts and family friendly activities as part of the tailgating activities. Then move into the stadium where the mainstage performers start at 3 p.m. with locals like Indian City, Doc Walker, Brandi Vezina, Catie St Germain and Neighbour Andy taking the stage throughout the day.

🎇 And of course, the night wouldn’t be complete without fireworks lighting up the Winnipeg skyline at dusk.

Another month, another list of great trips taken by clients ✈️

I saw many clients off on some great trips this past month.

🌎 A twenty year old young adult with a truly adventurous spirit ventured out on a trip of a lifetime. I love how they incorporated the Europe and Scandanavia Contiki trips I booked for them with independently planned segments through Italy and Iceland too. To help make their experience seamless, I put together a personalized online itinerary so they can access their travel details and e-documents on the fly. Organization is key when you are travelling through mulitiple destinations!

🚢⛰️ Next let’s talk about the Alaska cruises a few of my clients embarked on already this year! May and June are great months to see Alaska with lower crowds than the peak months of the summer. Luckily they booked well in advance (Alaska cruises sell out quickly!) and I helped them find itineraries suited to their bucket list, with comfortable room locations to make their experience a great one.

📸❤️ One client took their mother on her first Alaska cruise and sent me such wonderful photos sharing with me how happy her mom was. She said, "Everything is going great! She is so happy, she keeps thanking me."

Hearing feedback like this from my clients fills my heart with joy. I love being a part of helping my clients make these memories for themselves and their loved ones.

Honest question 👇

You’re not a cookie-cutter person, so why would you settle for a cookie-cutter vacation?

The thing about booking online using a travel website (Sites like Expedia and Booking.com) is that you only see what they want you to.

Nobody talks about the customer service limbo you can end up in when you choose to book your trip yourself online.

There’s another way!

When you plan and book your trips with me you’re not only getting a trip that’s custom to you, you’re also getting 10/10 customer service.

An important consideration when deciding.

I love travel influencers but why go solo when you can have a travel agent as your wingman? ✈️🌏

Lately I’ve been seeing posts from Instagram creators sharing travel advice, offering discounts and codes. I think it’s great they are sharing their experiences! I love hearing about everyone’s vacations. And their content is beautiful! 😍 🏖️ But …

❌ They don’t know your personal preferences
❌ They may have limited travel experience. (A creator who travels once or twice a year is not an expert)
