So far the investment into the park exceeds $2.5m USD 🥵
There are concrete plans in motion to secure Lleras with police checkpoints, akin to Plaza Botero.

Did you know that in Cerro de Las Tres Cruces, they have planted over 74,303 native trees since its last major fire in 2019?

Cerro de Las Tres Cruces is now Medellin's most traversed tutelary hill and is very popular with tourists. It has recently been added to the city's stock of natural ecological reserves.

Well, after 7+ years of coming to Medellin, it finally happened. I was added to the city's list of crime victims. I did give papaya though so if you're interested in knowing what NOT to do, have a read.

After 7 years of coming to Medellin, I've finally been added to the city's lengthy list of victims. My Samsung was stolen in the ritzy area of Provenza. In this article, I'll share my account of what happened, in addition to my subsequent experience following the loss of my phone.

What do you guys think of the 'new' Plaza Botero? If you didn't already know, in early Feb, the local mayor decided to retake control over the square by introducing fortified fencing. Transit in and out of the park requires you to pass through one of four police checkpoints.
I, for one, am a big fan and think that with security addressed, the square can realize its true potential as a cultural/artistic hub of the city. There are others, of course, that disagree. There are social implications when you close off a public space to thousands that once scratched a living there.
Botero himself, at 90 years of age, wrote a letter directly to the mayor and opined that the park is free for all to transit. What do you guys think? I try to weigh up the arguments in the article attached.

Cerro de las Tres Cruces has emerged as one of the most popular eco trails in the city thanks to its accessibility, infrastructure and views of the valley. After a fire in 2019, the city bought the land and converted it into a paradise for nature lovers.

The reputation of Medellín's most internationally renowned park has taken a nosedive in recent years. Failed attempts to halt the growth of debauchery have left the local government with little option but to rip it all apart.

It stands unrecognizable. As they say: 'what comes up must come down...'

BUT - this is actually part of the city's biggest endeavour yet to restore the pride and prestige of the park. They aren't giving up so easily. Parque Lleras is in the midst of a pretty big facelift.
