We love ❤️ upgrades to our houses! At Casa Josh we recently added a couple of beautiful acrylic paintings from a local artist from Dominical (Michi).

His paintings are now on our walls for our guests to enjoy 🖼️✅🎉🙌✨

One of the best experiences in our region is the Corcovado National park tour!

We work with Corcovado Hiking tours, an excellent company with great local guides with tons of knowledge.

The most popular day tour is the La Sirena Ranger station experience. It is the most remote station which is only accessible by boat. It is only an hour and a half boat ride from Puerto Jimenez along the beautiful coast line of the Osa. There are chances you may see dolphins or whales along the way. Cost is $147 per person and includes a great lunch at the station!

But you can also access the park by ground transfer through Carate and La Leona Ranger station. That trip involves a lot more hiking, but it is also a great day tour!

Another option is to stay overnight in La Sirena which is a once in a lifetime experience (imagine sleeping in the jungle in open air style beds, in the middle of all the wildlife there)!

We are currently hosting an amazing guest at Casa Del Bambu - TJ is a Master’s student at Stanford University, investigating how biological enrichment of palm oil plantations affects reptiles and amphibians. He’s researching how palm polycultures and monocultures differ in terms of biodiversity and ecosystem health!

And he loves loves loves reptiles and is already on the hunt for days (nights) around the house to find critters!

He found these 2 beautiful Blunt Headed Tree Snakes (Imantodes cenchoa) one night and took this sweet video showcasing their beauty! They’re totally harmless by the way 🤓😃🙏🏽😊!! Pura vida!!

We are so excited to host TJ for 3 months and learn all about the lizards frogs and snakes around the garden 😌🙏🏽

We have a beautiful hiking path very close to the house - only around 5 minutes walk and you get up into secondary jungle! At some spots you can see the Golfo Dulce!

Here you can see all 4 monkey species (we saw squirrel monkeys today), a couple of resident Tyra (it's their territory and they're always around but hard to see), sloth (if you've got good eyes), Coatimundi, Agouti, and even big cats (pumas and ocelot) have been spotted here!

There is a variety of birds, including the red-capped manakin (which is one of a kind with its moon-walk dance to impress the females), as well as Toucans, Turquoise Mot-Mot, Trogons, and many more...
