A lone, single and absolutely massive male s***m whale stole the show within seconds. What a magnificent creature of epic proportions, on every possible level. We saw the rapid, consecutive breaths from afar and are so grateful to have had this so rare but so quick moment before he went down to the deep. This calf is so incredibly strong and healthy! Her mama was magnificent and huge…definitely not her first calf. A very friendly and playful pair that just delighted the entire boat 😍🐋🙏🏽

Risso’s Dolphins! Another rare sighting! A group of about 12 came to the boat out of nowhere. We thought they were False Killer Whale at first due to their tall, curved dorsal fins. But the extensive scarring is so distinct and different when we got a good view. These linear scars are known to be made when diving deep for their squid prey. Very cool to see on our Pelagic Offshore Dolphin Tour!

We can’t get enough of these perfectly opened and inflated ventral pleats on this Bryde’s Whale. It’s such a rare treat in the tropics to see a whale feeding. Bryde’s whales are found in tropical waters like Costa Rica and apparently mate and calf year-round, constantly needing to forage. This was very special ✨💙✨

We encountered 6 Bryde’s Whales on our Pelagic Offshore Dolphin Tour! They were feeding on red lantern fish with spinner dolphins, mobulas tarapacanas and thousands of birds! It was one of the most incredible ecological hotspots we have ever seen! WILD!!! Unfortunately we only had a short encounter because a crazy without tropical storm hit and we lost all visibility for 2 hours! It was a marvelous experience that we are forever grateful for.
