Did you know that in the Galapagos Islands there are two types of frigates, very particular seabirds?🐦

They are called the Greater Frigate and the Magnificent Frigate, and they have some differences that will surprise you. For example:

✅ Male Greater Frigatebirds have a green sheen 💚 on their black feathers, while those of the Magnificent Frigatebird have a purple sheen 💜.
✅ Female Greater Frigatebirds have a red ring ❤️ around their eyes, while those of the Magnificent Frigatebird have a blue ring 💙.
✅ The Greater Frigatebird hatchlings have rust-colored spots on their heads, while the Magnificent Frigatebird hatchlings have a completely white head ⚪.
✅ But the most striking thing about these birds is that the males inflate a red bag 🔴 on their chest to attract females during courtship. This bag can measure up to 35 cm in diameter and fills with air in about 20 minutes. It's quite a sight to see them puff out their chests! 😮

Frigate birds are also known as pirate birds, because they sometimes steal food from other birds in mid-flight. 🏴‍☠️

They are experts in fishing 🐟 and can spend days and nights in the air without touching the ground. In addition, they have the largest ratio of wingspan to body weight of any bird in the world. 🌎
